Similarities between the preachings of Lord Buddha & Saint Kabir's 'Doha'
(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Abeysundara, A.
Kabir Das can be introduced as the most famous mystic poet among the Indian poets in 15 A.D. Kabir is known for his verbally composed poems called ‘Doha’. It is clear that both of them introduced social reforms through their preaching. The abridgment of the preaching made by Lord Buddha in 6 B.C. can be identified in Kabir’s ‘Doha’. Lord Buddha preached his sermons in Pali language, as well as Kabir composed ‘Doha’ in ‘Sadhukkadi’ language. This paper aims to examine the similarities between the preaching of Lord Buddha and Kabir's ‘Doha’.
