B. M. M. M.Selected formula consisted of tllree ingredients including dried leaves of Azadirachta indica, dried seeds of Sesamum indicum and Bees' honey which is clinically use for open wounds. The current study was designed as a microbiological assay and the key objective was to evaluate the antibacterial efficacy of TNK against laboratory specimen of Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25923). The Anti-Bacterial Sensitivity Test was conducted according to the Kirby Bauer method using Agar Well Diffusion method by comparing the effect of Amoxicillin as the positive controller and distilled water as the negative controller in triplicates. The testing drug was assessed as DI and D2 in concentration ratios respectively. Results of the study were obtained through the diameter measurement of inhibitory zone and assessed using one - sample T — test DI depicted p value as 0.024 and T - test was 4.44. D2 depicted p value as 0.100 and T- test was 1.89. Comparing to the positive control drug, the hypothesis was generated as Ho: μ ≤19 mm and H1 : μ>19 mm Referring to hypothesis, Hoof DI was rejected and HoofD2 was not rejected. The significant level was considered less tllan 5%. D2 concentration of TNK was significant against laboratory specimen of Staphylococcus aureus_ The study suggests that the TNK is consisted with an extrinsic effective antibacterial application for infected wounds which were caused by Staphylococcus aureus_ Further clinical study on human subjects will verify the efficacy of TNK in clinical manifestations.Item Ayurvedic Health System Approaches to the Globally Burden Health Care Problem of Obesity(Journal of Biology Agriculture and Healthcare, 2014) Senanayake, W.H.A.P.; Dissanayake, K.G.C.Overweight and obesity among children and adolescents has emerged as a global epidemic and is becoming a serious public health problem in whole over the world. Before the purgation therapy Snehapana is done. Generally sesame oil and ghee oil are used in Snehapana. When applying oil internally, blood lipid level can be changed. Various researches have been already carried out on blood lipid level, yet there is a lacuna in the management of blood lipid level. Therefore, this study was undertaken to examine and compare sesame oil and ghee oil on the blood lipid level in the body after the purgation therapy. Hence in the present clinical study, 16 patients were selected and divided into 2 groups. The sesame oil was given to group A and ghee oil was given to group B. All the patients were investigated for total cholesterol level, HDL, Triglyceride, LDL, VLDL and total cholesterol / HDL ratio before and after treatment. According to data, when sesame oil was applied, patient’s total cholesterol, HDL, LDL mean value decreased but ghee oil applied patient’s mean values increased after the treatment. But triglyceride mean value increased after the treatment of both oils. But there was not a significant treatment effect. When considering the overall results of this study, according to the mean value sesame oil can be applied to increased blood lipid level patients but ghee cannot be usedItem A Comparative Study on the Effect and Efficacy of Treatment Protocol Consisting of Herbal Formulation Derived from Sri Lankan Ola Leave Manuscript in the Management of Obesity(Project Report, Graduate Studies Division, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2019) De Silva, M.M.T.; Dissanayake, K.G.C.Obesity has become a major global health challenge due to established heal risks and substantial increases in prevalence. The trial therapy is a safe herbal formulation and act not only on a weight but on variety f these factors. By increasing good lipid levels and decreasing bad lipid levels in blood_ Thus it helps to control hyperlipidemia. Further Clinical trial proved more desired output by decleasing lipid levels in combined therapy Of Vlrechana and Vasti, rather than them being used separately. Lipid level was significantly reduced by the drags, specially Virechana having more effect over triglycerides. Weight and BMI reduction was highly significant in both groups. Drug therapy, especially Basti showed more effect, Drug therapy produced significant reduction in systolic BP and highly significant reduction in diastolic BP. Results suggest possibility of more productive output in combination of drug therapy and dietary control and physical exercise together.Item Critical Study on the Pharmacological Activity of Emetic Drugs Used in Vamana Karma with Special Reference to Vruddhathraya(Project Report, Graduate Studies Division, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2017) Perera, M.J.D.; Dissanayake, K.G.C.Äyurveda is the science of life.lt deals with the total creation with special emphasis on the biology of life.
