Item AWRSMS: An Approach to Enhance Apparel Warehousing and Retailing through IoT(Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Jayathilaka, D.K.; Kottage, G.; Chankuma, C.; Dulakshi, C.; Herath, K.; Ganegoda, U.; Buhari, M.When considering about the modern trends of the Information and technology field; Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the pivotal and emerging technology. In human dependent existing systems such analysis can be done only if someone runs a query and checks for it. When it comes to Warehousing and storage industry, manually collected data are sent to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or to a warehouse management system. These systems have some limitations such as mismatches of issuing stock, problems in handling the inventory items and placing them in the warehouse. Warehouse management system manages all the functions in a warehouse but both the systems use manual methods to collect data, such as barcodes. So errors are occurred when entering large number of data into the system. Even a well trained staff member can fail due to common human failures such as fatigue. There’s a very less number of systems which are fully automated, convert captured data into information in real time and these systems are not able to control both warehouse’s and retail shop’s functions. Moreover any of these are not using new methods to do customer promotion. To give a comprehensive solution to limitations of existing systems the above mentioned Apparel Warehouse and Retail Shop Management System (AWRSMS) is developed. The system manages the functions in both warehouse and retail shop in apparel industry. It involves organizing, automating and synchronizing the activities of these both places in effective and efficient manner, using the technology IoT. In this system, all the data about stocks, incoming goods, dispatching items, will be collected using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and readers and collected data will be sent to the system’s database which stored in a web server. By using these data the system executes several functions such as providing details of returns, new arrivals and dispatched items, mismatch of dispatch, available items, details about stock updates and selected items with relevant reports. This system is implemented as three major modules; web application, data capturing module and customer promotion module. The promotion module enables the location based promotion process inside the retail shop and it is one of a newest and significant function included in AWRSMS. It is a combination of mobile application and a web application. In this module the marketing manager can add promotions into the database using web application. Through the mobile application customer receives the ongoing promotion details. In this process when a customer comes near to the particular sales area which has an ongoing sales promotion, system detects the customer’s phone and send the promotion message to them, using IoT beacons. Mobile application installed in customer’s phone continuously searches for beacon ranges, connect with them and receives relevant promotion messages using Bluetooth Law Energy (BLE) signals transmitted by the beacons. Android studio, JAVA and XML are used as developing tools of the promotion module. Rest of the system is developed using spring framework, Java EE, Hibernate framework and MYSQL. Testing and evaluation was carried out in three procedures to verify whether the system has achieved the intended objectives. First one is the module testing, done by dividing each main function as a module and tested their functionalities, evaluated with intended results immediately after completing each module. White box testing methods were used to carry out the module testing. Test cases have been designed for each module and testing was carried out based on them. Statement coverage for all the test cases was within 85%-100%. All the modules of main web application got 100% accuracy level, Promotion module achieved 96% and data capturing module obtained 82% of accuracy level. After integrating each module, the final testing phrase was carried out by using black box testing. All the modules of web application achieved 100%, promotion module 98% and data capturing module 76% of accuracy level. To ensure that the user requirements were achieved as intended, a questionnaire have been given to a selected sample which consist of 50 members, including AWRSMS’s end customers, people who are knowledgeable of technology and management, and people who aren’t. Questions of this questionnaire categorized under user friendliness, user experience, functionality, suggestion and recommendation. Questions made under user friendliness and user experiences mainly focused the end users who are not expert in technology to measure the usability of the system. The selected users had to comment by using the system without knowing the inside functions. Then the functionality section mainly focused the technological people who tested the overall system. The intention was to figure out the relevancy and compatibility of each and every function with user requirements. Suggestions and the recommendation sections were carried to explore the further improvements. The positive feedbacks which have been gained by user friendliness of AWRSMS is 80% and 78%, 84%, 76 % was obtained for recommendation, user experience, and functionality respectively. 64% of the sample gave suggestion to upgrade the functionalities. When comparing aims objectives and gathered outcomes of the system AWRSMS has been completed in intended and successful manner. By obtaining the required resources and doing further improvements such as using industry level RFIDs, and improving mobile application by adding more features and developing it also for IOS platform, the Apparel Warehouse and Retail shop management system will be an ultramodern and significant approach for the Apparel industry.Item An investigative study on language characteristics of “Dalada Siritha”(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Herath, K.“Dalada Siritha” is a text translated into Sinhala during Kurunagala era. The source for this literary work is “Pali Dhatawanshaya”. It is a creation of Dewradadampasangina. This text transformed to be a renowned magnum opus due to the alluring language characteristics used in its composition process. The law on fallacy of composition named “Vruththagandhi”, being one of the four fold prose styles of literature described in “Sahithya Darpanaya”, an objective correlation composed by “Vishvanatha Kaviraja”, has been used in this book. There is the evidence that “Vruththagandhi” law of composition analyzed in Sanskrit poetic style is not an adventitious term for Sinhala language. In ancient stone inscriptions and in prose texts such as “Amavathura”, “Buthsarana”, “Dharmapradeepikawa” composed during Polonnaruwa era, Vurthagandhi characteristics could be slightly observed to some extent. The term “Vurthagandhi” is defined in “Chandomanjari” as a prose inclusive of parts measure. These characteristics could be identified as mostly inherent to poetic literature, rather than to those of prose literature. “Daladasiritha” is the first ever prose whereas “Vruththagandhi” composition style has been used in length. Rhyming effects have been used at the opening, middle and at the ending as in the case of a poetic composition in “Daladasiritha” and followed the malformation of letterings. The objective of this study is to carry out a research study about the language characteristics of “Daladasiritha” paying special attention to the lengthy style of language features.Item An Investigatory Study on Literary Characteristics of Sinhala ''Thupavansaya''(Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Herath, K.; Madumali, I.Sinhala Thupavansaya is a literary work translated into Sinhala language during the Kurunegala period. This chronicle written according to Pali Thupavansaya is a creation of Sri Parakrama Panditha. Although this is a translation, the translator has introduced creative and literary features into it superseding its chronicle characteristics. The objective of this research is to investigate into the facts related to literary characteristics included in the Sinhala Thupavansaya translation. The significance of this study is the ability to study the nature of the translation on Sinhala Thupavansaya and about the changes effected in the course of translation while identifying the literary characteristics of chronicle literature. The research problem of this study is to ascertain as to whether Sinhala Thupavansaya is a text that has superseded the chronicle characteristics and literary features. The methodology of the research is to study about facts from books through primary and secondary sources. Sinhala Thupavansaya, Pali Thupavansaya and other chronicles which were translated into Sinhala during the Kurunegala era were viewed as primary sources, and discursive texts composed by post classical authoritative erudite about chronicle literature were recognized as secondary source texts. As the results of this research reveal, Sinhala Thupavansaya was identified as the translated text that comprises of the most number of literary characteristics among other chronicle texts. It was also identified that in the course of translation, the facts which were presented briefly in Pali Thupavansaya have been illustrated in detail and creatively in the Sinhala translation which demonstrates that it consists of literary characteristics. According to this research, it could be concluded that Sinhala Thupavansaya is a chronicle that is enriched with nutriment efficacy of literary sustenance.Item An investigatory study on psychological basis of the celestial concept of Goddess Paththini(Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Herath, K.Among illustrious celestial concepts of Sri Lanka, venareation of Goddess Paththini abides at a foremost eminence. This is acknowledged as a great poem composed according to the Sanskrit rhetoric tradition' when inzuring into sinhala classical literature, it could be conceded that sinhala poetic literature was greatly influenced by Sanskrit literature. Accordingly, the great poetic works namely, Muwadevdavatha, sasadavatha, Kavsilumana are regarded as having composed as per the accepted ode poetic tradition. Objective of this research is to ascertain as to what extent Kusajathaka kavya has acquired the great poetic characteristics relatively to the above mentioned great poems. Significance of this research is the ability to ensure that Kusajathaka kavya is a great poem. The research problem of this study is whether Kusajathaka kavya is a great poem (epic). Primary and secondary sources of the above books were based as the methodology of this research. Sources namely, Kusajathaka kavya, siyabas Lakara and Kavsilumina were used as primary sources while sanskrit Leterature, great poetic characteristics and classical work of post classical era composed by authoritative erudite were associated as secondary sources. the results identified from this research is that although there was no intuition or originality up to the standard of great sinhala poetic works of early periods it could be acknowledged that kusajathaka Kavya has been composed in conformity with Sanskrit great poetic characteristics and in association of authoritative works of early periods. In accordance with this research, it could be concluded that kusajathaka kavya is a great compositional work of the period.Item An Investigatory Study on the Characteristic Features of Language in the Novel ''Charitha Thunak''(Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Herath, K.Item Language Skills of 2-5 Year Old Children with Profound Hearing Loss Undergoing Auditory-Oral Education Compared to Typically-Developing Peers.(Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, 2014) Waidyasekara, C.; Rajapaksha, N.; Herath, K.; Hettiarachchi, S.Hearing impairment is the most frequent sensory defect that leads to communication difficulties and critical to speech and language development, communication, and learning. The objectives were to compare the language skills of children with profound hearing loss using digital amplification and undergoing intensive Auditory Oral education with typically developing peers and to determine the correlation between the time period of receiving Auditory Oral education and language outcomes. Twenty-two children with profound hearing loss using bilateral Behind- The- Ear hearing devices, were selected from an Auditory Oral pre-school. 44 children whose age, gender and geographical area matched were selected from mainstream pre-schools. All participants were assessed using the informal assessment tool. Median scores of receptive vocabulary skills are higher than scores of expressive vocabulary skills in both groups. The difference was statistically significant between the two groups. Receptive vocabulary, understanding of quality, understanding of spatial concept, understand of sequencing concept, understand of sentence structure (syntax) and integrative thinking revealed significant (p<0.05) for each age range 2;0 – 2;11, 3;0 – 3;11 and 4;0 – 5;0. There is a significant difference in seventeen out of twenty linguistic components between the two groups (p<0.05). Only three categories; initiating (p=0.157), producing syllables (p=0.157) and expressing negations (p=0.157) did not show significance. There is a significant (p<0.01) correlation among the time period of having AO education and language skills. The study concluded that there is a significant difference in language skills compared to the typically developing peers. Increased language skills were observed with the early attendance of Auditory Oral education and with appropriate hearing aid. Hence, the children with hearing loss need effective intervention to enhance their language skills in spoken language.Item Prediction of Dengue Incidence Based on Time Series Modelling in the District of Colombo, Sri Lanka(International Postgraduate Research Conference 2019, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2019) Udayanga, L.; Herath, K.; Gunanthilaka, N.; Iqbal, M.C.M.; Abeyewickreme, W.Timely implementation of intervention activities, is essential in controlling dengue epidemics. This requires the prediction of dengue epidemics, while respecting the spatial and temporal trends in dengue incidence. However, such aspects are limitedly focused in dengue epidemic management of Sri Lanka. Therefore, the current study was conducted to develop a temporal prediction model for dengue incidence in the district of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Dengue cases reported from 2000 to 2018 in the district of Colombo were collected from the Epidemiology Unit, Sri Lanka. Selected meteorological parameters such as number of rainy days, monthly cumulative rainfall, minimum and maximum relative humidity and temperature corresponding to the same study period were collected from the Department of Meteorology, along with the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) from the National Oceanic and Administration (NOAA) Centre. All the data were arranged at monthly level. After evaluation of the normality, seasonality, stationarity and seasonal stationarity of the epidemic data, a Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model was fitted for the prediction of dengue by using the R statistical package. Subsequently, the meteorological factors and the dengue incidence was subjected to a cross correlation analysis to identify the most representative meteorological factors associated with dengue epidemic incidence and an Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average with Exogeneous Input (ARIMAX) model was fitted. The best fitted SARIMA (0, 1, 0) (3, 0, 0)12 model was characterized by an Akaike Information Criteria value (AIC) of -19.04, Bayesian information criterion (BIC) of -5.42, Mean error (ME) of 0.002 and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 0.518. According to the cross correlation analysis, number of rainy days (RD) and Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) denoted a significant negative association with the reported dengue cases in Colombo, while monthly cumulative rainfall (RF), maximum relative humidity (Max_RH), maximum temperature (Max_T) and minimum temperature (Min_T) shared a positive correlation (P < 0.05 at 95% level of confidence). The best fitting ARIMAX model (as indicated below) was characterized by an AIC of -15.74, BIC of -11. 2, ME of 0.006 and RMSE of 0.171. ARIMA (0, 1, 1) + [-0.0006 RDt-3 + 0.0008 RFt-3 + 0.0260 Max_RHt-3 + 0.0766 Min_Tt—4 - 0.0661 ONIt-5] Based on the performance, the ARIMAX model is recommended to be used for the prediction of dengue incidence in the Colombo district to ensure rational allocation of resources for vector control and dengue epidemic managementItem අර්වින් පිස්කැටෝර්ගේ එපික් රංග සම්ප්රදාය(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2010) Herath, K.Item කේ. ජයතිලකගේ චරිත තුනක් නවකතාවේ චරිත නිරූපණය පිළිබඳ විග්රහයක්(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2015) Herath, K.Item ප්රහසන නාට්ය කලාවේ මූලික ලක්ෂණ පිළිබඳ විමර්ශනයක්(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2010) Herath, K.Item බැද්දේගම නවකතාව පිළිබඳ විග්රහයක්(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2015) Herath, K.Item මහගම සේකරගේ පද්ය නිර්මාණයන්හි අන්තර්ගත ජන කාව්ය ලක්ෂණ(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2010) Herath, K.Item මිණිවන් පී. තිලකරත්නගේ තෘෂ්ණාභරණ(University of Kelaniya, 2009) Herath, K.Item වලානේ පත්තිනි දේව ඇදහිල්ල පිළිබඳ අධ්යයනයක්(Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2002) Herath, K.Item සාහිත්යය හා සිනමාව(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2008) Herath, K.Item හංස කතුවරයාගේ නිර්මාණ කුසලතාව(Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2008) Herath, K.
