Item Database Management System Deployment on Docker Containerization for Distributed Systems(Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT), University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Kithulwatta, W.M.C.J.T.; Jayasena, K.P.N.; Kumara, B.T.G.S.; Rathnayaka, R.M.K.T.Containerization is a novel technology that brings an alternative for virtualization. Due to the most infrastructure-based features, most computer system administration engineers use Docker as the infrastructure level platform. On the Docker containers, any such kind of software service can be deployed. This study aims to evaluate Docker container based relational database management system container behavior. Currently, most scholarly research articles are existing for the database engine performance evaluation under different metrics and measurements of the database management systems. Therefore, without repeating them: this study evaluated the data storage mechanisms, security approaches, container resource usages and container features on the launching mechanism. According to the observed features and factors on the containerized database management systems, containerized database management systems are presenting more value-added features. Hence containerized database management system Docker containers can be recommended for the distributed computer systems for getting the benefit of effectiveness and efficiency.Item Enterprise Ready Containerized And Microservices Architectural Devops Engine Designing(2nd South Asia Conference on Multidisciplinary Research, 2019) Kithulwatta, W.M.C.J.T.; Jayawickrama, D.Seamlessly software delivery and maintaining without any delay, is the major task of DevOps engineers in industrialization. In the traditional way, it is using bare metal hardware or cloud services to farm the computer system infrastructure. While using those modules, the main problems arising are, huge cloud service charges, disability to use infrastructure in the cross-platform, difficulty of infrastructure migration, system archiving problem, data persisting problems and smooth scalability issue. Main objectives of the research study are to create portable system infrastructure modules, to create technical and theoretical containerized DevOps engine, apply long-time data persisting approach to the enterprise applications and to apply high-velocity innovation to the computer systems infrastructure. The proposed DevOps engine was designed with the Docker container management system on top of the Linux operating system as the host. It was used Docker trusted images to deploy, isolated containers by using microservices architecture with advanced software engineering concepts with industrialized software applications. It was used enterprise-ready software applications and services on the proposed engine to validate the concept over the same configurations on the cloud service. With the usage of encapsulated components container approach, all internal data was secured on top of the host operating system. Due to the portability of Docker containers, it was easy to migrate the monolithic computer system to microservices architecture. By using fast Docker containers, it was facilitated to DevOps engineers on the engine to improve the scalability and security across the system infrastructure.Item A study on need of web based mobile application development for online fashion design selection with machine learning(4th International Conference on Social Sciences 2018, Research Centre for Social Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Kithulwatta, W.M.C.J.T.Web based mobile applications, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are most popular trend of modern Information Technology in current society. It makes more advantage and large network with World Wide Web with millions of mobile computing devices. With the development of the computer technology, it is adapting all of manual systems to web based applications and mobile applications. When it becomes to automation, it combines with machine learning and AI. In traditional fashion design selection manual systems, when a person needs to participate an event (ceremonial event) she/he needs to select hair style from a saloon, dresses from textile shop and accessories from a respective shop. It is happening at three different physically isolated places. There is no a such method to fulfil those three needs by a computerized system even there is no physical place to fulfill that. In here it is examining the need of web based mobile application for online fashion design selection with machine learning & AI. Frist, this research report discussed the current fashion design systems, current problems of them and objectives of the research study. Secondly, this research presents a literature review on theoretical and knowledge models for presenting system. Under the third part it will be presented conceptual framework, hypothesis, variables and indicators of study. Multi stage sampling technique will be used to identify the cluster and it will be used to gather data. The questionnaire will be developed to evaluate each identified indicators and collected the data will be analyzed using Minitab statistical software. Data analysis and research findings will be presented at the fourth part of the research report. Finally, it will be presented the essential functional requirements and elicitations, recommendations to future development on above systems and limitations to develop the web based mobile application for online fashion design selection with machine learning and AI for software developersItem A study on the usage of social media by people in the sector of Information Technology(1st National Conference on Mass Communication, Department of Mass Communication (NCMC 2018), University of Kelaniya, Sri lanka., 2018-12-08) Kithulwatta, W.M.C.J.T.Information Technology (IT) can be considered as a major trend in the modern world. At present social media creates a better platform for communication and create public relations within people. Media ethics and media literacy help people for a good communication. This paper examines the need of social media for people in IT sector. The research question of this study is to understand the reasons for the need of social media to the people in IT sector. The first part of this study discusses about the current problems and the strengths of social media. The author used only Skype, Twitter, LinkedIn, Slack and YouTube as social media. The main objective of this study is to examine the factors related to the communication and social media in IT industry. In addition, this study aims to analyze the relationship between human factors and technical factors in communication, to identify the basic practices, ethical behaviors and how the media literacy helps people to continue good communication. The literature review discusses the theoretical models of presenting research topic. The methodology of this research study discussed about the identified variables; human factor and technical factors. The conceptual framework developed with an identified framework and indicators. A questionnaire was developed to cover all identified indicators. The target sample size is hundred people from both IT undergraduates and IT employers. The collected data was analyzed with Minitab statistical software. The results of this study shows majority of the people in the IT sector are using YouTube for IT development activities, Skype for industrial discussions and video conferences, LinkedIn for professionalism, research publications and academic works and Slack for official tutorials and webinar in the organizations and Twitter to get latest acknowledgments. Finally, it presents the need of Skype, LinkedIn, Slack, YouTube and Twitter for the people in IT industry and how they use the particular social media for their dayto- day communication activities.
