Item The Gravity of Entrepreneurs’ Network Ties on the growth of the Business in Sri Lanka(European Journal of Business and Management, 2017) Semasinghe, D.M.; Kumarapeli, K.Using the business performances of the firm we investigated how network ties (NT) interfere to obtain business growth in Sri Lankan context. As NT consist of two constructs which are social NT and business NT, this study aims to what extent both constructs engaged to the growth of the business in distinctly. It was mainly hypothesized that entrepreneurs who have high NT could perform more than others who engaged with lack of NT in same context. Finally results confirmed that NT has a positive impact on business growth. However, results indicated that business NT has significant influence on business growth than social NT. The results of the study have important implications to the existing entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, consultants and policy makers.Item The Impact of Brand Loyalty on Buying Behavior of Consumers of LED Television (Case Study to Philips LED TV)(University of Kelaniya, 2014) Ravindra, P.; Kumarapeli, K.The attempt of this study is to examine the impact of the brand loyalty generates on consumers buying behavior especially concerning to LED television. Hence, the purpose of the study is to determine the factors contribute to construct brand loyalty in the minds of consumers and to what extent they influence on consumers‟ buying decision towards LED televisions. The researcher initiates the study in finding relevant literature with regard to the brand loyalty and consumer buying behavior. Based on that literature, the conceptual framework is developed and examined during the study taking the variables from the available literature. The factors such as brand awareness, brand image, perceived quality and company reputation and consumers‟ buying decision are the main variables investigated in the current study. The research methodology mainly focused on gathering primary data using a questionnaire. The analysis of primary data allowed the researcher to examine the hypotheses developed based on the variables identified as main contributory factors in constructing brand loyalty which influence the buying decision of the consumers. The conclusions of the study suggest that there are statistically significant relationship exist between the identified variables and consumers‟ buying decision. Therefore, the recommendations are given by the researcher to increase effectiveness of factors affecting in constructing the brand loyalty towards the selected LED television brand.Item The Significance of SWOT Analysis for Performance of Entrepreneurial Process: A Review(International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI – 2019), [Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management], Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2019) Kumarapeli, K.SWOT analysis is a popular strategic tool found in strategic entrepreneurship literature. It is a technique applied to understand the internal and external environment of a business entity. However, little is known about the application of SWOT analysis in the business start-ups. SWOT can be used to capture the all necessary actions and steps when entrepreneur starts a business. Specially, in competitive environment business sustainability, profitability is much essential. Therefore most of entrepreneurs used to go for more expensive consultations, concepts, strategies and opinions in order to maintain lucrative business. Core expectation of the literature review to illustrate what are the start-up challenges in a business and how to overcome them using SWOT analysis. Therefore I used prior research findings and prior research definitions to elucidate how far SWOT analysis could involve gaining success in an endeavor. Few definitions and one method has been described in the paper to leaners, entrepreneurs to identify the nature of SWOT in order to use and use SWOT can be recommended in any kind of business at the start-ups.Item Success Entrepreneurs’ are Externally Locus of Control: Examination of the Venture Performance(19th Conference on Postgraduate Research, International Postgraduate Research Conference 2018, Faculty of Graduate Studies,University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2018) Kumarapeli, K.; Semasignhe, D.The objective of this study to identify successfulentrepreneurs’ believes on some intangible, invisible phenomena on their success. According to the findings we could inspire or create another stimulus for entrepreneurs’ to reach the success of their endeavors’. In a competitive market entrepreneurs’ effort on keep sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) is a bridge to survive. Therefore, entrepreneurs’ used to maintain few methods and strategies. Some are theoretically and practically existing in the context and some are invisible phenomena. Mainly these types of phenomena can be described under locus of control. It has two types which are internal locus of control (ILOC) and External locus of control (ELOC). But little is known about ELOC in literature. Therefore, Using ELOC theories and findings we investigated a relationship between ELOC and venture performance of successful entrepreneurs. As our survey conducted to find possible dimensions to ELOC we found that horoscope, fate, lucky time, religion/god and fortune are prominent dimensions. Venture performance quantified using generally accepted measures which are annual turnover and number of generated jobs. It was hypnotized thatELOC reinforce venture performance. Results indicated that there is a positive impact of ELOC on venture performance of successful entrepreneurs. Further it was found that horoscope and god have high influence on venture success. Same time lucky time indicated that no significant impact on venture performance. The results of the study have important implications to the existing entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, consultants and policy makers to use dimensions of ELOC as stimuli for the high performance in their endeavors’. And these implications conglomerate to open new direction to researchers and policy makers to do their studies in an innovative context. Further these results help to better understand the entrepreneurial process and venture success in terms of both theory and practice.
