Nowadays scientometrics is considered as a standard tool of science policy and research management. It is also realized that this is the opportune time for the library professionals to study the current trend of Sri Lankan education system in the view international scholars to identify the role of the libraries in fulfilling the obligations specified in these research studies. This study was carried out with the intention to analyze the international research publications on education in Sri Lanka. The process of selection of publications was utilizing scientometric approach of research publications indexed by the web of science (WoS) database. Quantitative research methodological approach was taken, based on scientometric analysis. Results of this study shows a total of 201 publications were released by the Global scientists in education during 2010-2016 which received 4873 citations. The mean number of publications per year was 16.57%. It states that globally 9.45percents of items were from lone authors, pursued by 16.42% authors by double authors etc. 0.91 percent of collaborative author’s articles released throughout the study periods. The value of a mean RGR of publications which declined from 3.32 in 2010 to 0.32 in 2016, simultaneously the values of doubling time (Dt) of publications expanded from 0.21 in 2010 to 3.04 in 2016. The high frequency keywords were “Sri lanka” 109 (54.2%, TCLS 14, TGCS 332). The foremost cited quotation is Katulanda P, 2008, diabetic med, V25, P1062, DOI 10.1111/j.1464-5491.2008.02523.x. The suggestion of this research is to setup an enabling environment for more studies across the nations on Sri Lankan education and international researchers need to be encouraged on this.Item Sanskrit Webliography– a Sample Strategic Initiative to Increase the E-Resource Usage among Academics in Sri Lanka(Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Navaneethakrishnan, S.This is a time of increased access to electronic information. E-Collections are very useful to all institutions and individuals to get instant, relevant, comprehensive information at doorsteps. In this information era, librarians should not only create useful products for the user, but should also develop knowledge of the particular online literature. They have designed, developed and tested some manual techniques and search tools. The objective of this study is to provide a sample strategic initiative to increase the e-resource usage among academics in Sri Lanka.Altogether different kinds of 86websites have been identified and selectedon random sampling method in this study for the development of this webliography. Mixed method consist of Facet analytical and Experimental method was used to design the webliography. The Basic structure of this webliography was designed following various procedures such as Selecting the topic;Searching the Web; Browsing and selecting the best ones among retrieved hits; Creating a web page; Choosing an informative title for the webliography; Writing an introduction; Entering selected/filtered links; Establishing hyperlinks; Preparing an index; Publishing by uploading it on the server to increase its usage. According to the findings it is found that these webliographies could be used as appropriate service strategy to increase the usage of electronic resources. Further university libraries are expected to concentrate more on the designing of these kind of webliographies for their teaching disciplines to increase the e-resource usage through their websites.Item Trend of degree of collaboration of journals related to Humanities and Social Sciences published by Sri Lankan Universities(Book of Abstracts, Annual Research Symposium 2014, 2014) Navaneethakrishnan, S.; Weerasooriya, W.A.This study especially focuses on the degree of collaboration journals related to Humanities and Social Sciences published by Sri Lankan Universities. Degree of collaboration (DC) is defined as the ratio of the number of collaborative research papers to the total number of research papers in the discipline during a certain period of time. DC can also be applied to the individual journals to identify multi disciplinary nature of research articles produced by a group of authors of that particular journal.
