Item Assessment of the Factors Affecting Students' Satisfaction towards E-Learning: A Study of University Students in University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Livera, R.T.B.; Peiris, M.D.P.This study was conducted to assess the factors affecting students' satisfaction towards E-learning. Quantitative and deductive approaches were used for this study, and the study population was university students at the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka. Further, the sample was selected using the simple random sampling technique. This study's independent variables were participants' interaction, e-learning flexibility, elearning quality, students' learning style, and digital literacy. The primary data were collected from 121 respondents through a questionnaire distributed in a Google form. To analyze primary data, SPSS was used. It was found that the independent variables, participants' interaction, e-learning flexibility, e-learning quality, and digital literacy, are factors that significantly influence the students' satisfaction towards e-learning. Further, this study found that there is no significant relationship between the learning style of students and students' satisfaction towards e-learning. The present study would provide direction to the policymakers, university administrators, university academic staff, system designers, and future researchers.Item Auditor-Client Relationship as a Source of Value Addition for Audit Firm: A Descriptive Study of Audit Firm in Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Gayani, K.A.U.,; Peiris, M.D.P.; Darshani, R.K.N.D.Today value-adding activities are more critical than profit-maximizing in an organization, businesses are concern about the value addition to the organization in deep manner. Relationship building with the client chain can be defined as a major source that adds value to the organization. Even though the previous scholars have identified the necessity of value-adding activities in the service sector their focus towards the auditing sector in Sri Lankan context is low. This is a qualitative deductive study sample was selected in purposive sampling among the population of ManagersAssurance, Senior Audit Associates and Audit Associates grade 1 & 2 from Kreston Sri Lanka. Individual interviews, focused group interview and observations were conducted to gather data. Thematic analysis was used to analyze data. Results of the study identified as there is a direct impact between auditor’s commitment, communication effectiveness and audit tenure in order to add value to the audit firm. Further, it recognized that there is a moderate impact between auditor’s perceptions towards the client and value addition. Human beings can follow the above results while interacting with others in their routine. This research limited only to the Sri Lankan context one audit firm other audit firms can implement to their context also.Item Impact of ‘Adoption to Shift-work’ on Work-Life Balance of Operational Level Employees of Glove Manufacturing Industry in Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Maddumage, M.O.K.; Peiris, M.D.P.This study was initiated with the primary objective of assessing the impact of adoption to shift work on the work-life balance of operational level employees of the glove manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka. The researcher attempted to answer a problem that is concerned with filling a contextual gap in empirical knowledge and theoretical comprehension. The deductive approach was predominantly applied for the study, which is mainly an explanatory one. Therefore, the study was carried out as a crosssectional and quantitative field study. Data was collected through a standard questionnaire using the convenience sampling technique due to the population is unknown. The sample consisted of 101 operational level employees from two glove manufacturing companies located in Kaluthara and Gampaha Districts, Sri Lanka. It is found that adoption to shift work has a significant positive relationship and impact with the work-life balance of operational level employees. Hence, adoption to shift work can be identified as a significant factor in the work-life balance of operational level employees. Therefore, it is recommended that employee adoption levels be encouraged and improved through shift work lifestyle training. Further, arranging shift work, considering shift life balance model will cause to increase their levels of adoption to shift work and work-life balance. Additionally, cross-validation of the findings of this study can be undertaken in different industries. It is recommended to use a bigger study sample for future research studies, as it will hopefully add more insights to the present study's substance.Item Impact of ‘Individual Political Ideology Diversification’ of Generations on the Interpersonal Conflict in Public Sector Banks, Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Liyanaarachchi, B.L.A.L.S.; Peiris, M.D.P.This study focused on investigating the impact of individual political ideology diversification on interpersonal conflicts at work. The study results will help employees identify how the employees` interpersonal conflicts arisen due to diversified political ideology can be reduced. The study also highlights the most significant factors of political ideology. This study will guide society to follow a new career path, leading to creating multi-skilled and calm employees. This study has been carried out as a cross-sectional field study, predominantly applying the hypotheticalquantitative deductive approach, in which the researchers’ interference on the study sample was minimal. The population of the current study comprised of the executive level employees of public sector banks in the Colombo region. Therefore, the unit of analysis is at the individual level. As the total number of observations in the population is known, the simple random sampling method was applied to select the sample. The target population of this study was 322 respondents. Out of 300 questionnaires distributed, 235 responses were received. The author successfully determined that individual political ideology influences interpersonal conflicts at work. Further, this study makes a major theoretical contribution by addressing the political theory and generation’s theory to the literature also. It is suggested that managers and practitioners establish such a culture and calm environment by improving teamwork in the workplace. Cross-validation of the findings of the study can be undertaken in different industries and cultures using a more significant sample, which will add more insights to the substance of the study.Item The Impact of Job Satisfaction on Job Performance of Frontline Employees in Bank of Ceylon, Metro Province, Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Fernando, W.K.M.,; Peiris, M.D.P.The relationship between job satisfaction and job performance has long been established. Accordingly, the job performance of employees leads to achieving the overall organizational goals and objectives. Along with that, the organization will be able to achieve its desired strategies that would lead to gain a competitive advantage in the market. However, only a limited number of researches exist undertaken on job satisfaction and job performance and the extent of the association has not been investigated comprehensively in the Sri Lankan banking sector. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the impact of job satisfaction on the performance of frontline employees of the Bank of Ceylon Metro Province, Sri Lanka. The study measures job satisfaction via indicators, such as pay, work itself, supervision, relationship with coworkers and promotions. Deductive approach was adopted to conduct the research and a survey was utilized to fulfill the strategy of the research. Data collection was done via a questionnaire. The statement of the questionnaire was measured by using the 5 points Likert scale. The data collected from 51 respondents were extensively used to reach the conclusion. The final data analysis was carried out using a mean score, standard deviation, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The hypothesis was substantiating and it was found out that 16.7% of job performance was affected by job satisfaction. It was discovered that there was a positive relationship between job performance and job satisfaction. Even though job satisfaction has a considerable influence on job performance, this study encourages further investigation on finding additional factors that may affect job performance.Item Impact of Knowledge Sharing via Enterprise Social Media Networks On Employee Productivity in the Information Technology (IT) Industry(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Madhawa, W.G.S.; Peiris, M.D.P.The main purpose of this study was to identify whether there is a significant value given by Enterprise Social Networks (ESN) for knowledge sharing to uplift Employee productivity. Further, the current study was designed to identify the intrinsic motivational factor which persuades knowledge sharing. This is a cross-sectional research study in nature. A standard questionnaire was prepared and was used to collect primary data through a survey. The respondents were the professional employed in the IT Industry within the Colombo Metropolitan. Descriptive Statistics, Chi-Square Test, and Binary Logistics Regression method were used to analyze data and make conclusions. Findings revealed that most of the IT sector employees use Enterprise Social Networks to share knowledge, which has led to a significant improvement in productivity. Furthermore, it was identified that no matters help in knowledge sharing, and the individuals must have the need to share knowledge, which mainly arises through the intrinsic motivation within them.
