Item Factors Affecting on Employee Loyalty: A Study of Operative Level Employees in Apparel Industry Special Reference to Lankapura Apparel (PVT) LTD(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Prasadani, W. K. C.; Silva, H. M. S. V.The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting on employee loyalty in operative level employees in Lankapura Apparel (Pvt) Ltd. This study is carried out as a quantitative explanatory research work. Further, the sample is selected randomly and used simple random sampling technique. This is a descriptive research & standard questionnaire was used to collect primary data through a survey. Questionnaires are distributed to a sample of 193 of operational level employees who are currently working in Lankapura Apparel (Pvt) Ltd. To analyze received questionnaires data, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) was used. To interpret data analyzed and to obtain the result graphical charts, descriptive statistical techniques such as mean, mode, standard deviation and histograms, correlation and coefficient, multiple regression analysis and residual analysis were used. To test the relationship between variables Pearson correlation technique analysis was used. Simple regression analysis was used to identify the degree of the impact of the independent variable on dependent variable was analyzed by using R square value. And it was found to be that there is a significant moderate positive relationship between leadership, perceived working environment and compensation on employee loyalty and there is no significant positive relationship in person- job- fit on employee loyalty. This research is very important in building the relationship between employee and employer. Through this study, management can gain a better understanding of how to retain employees in the workplace through the employee loyaltyItem Factors Impact on Employee Self-Control: Study of Sewing Machine Operators in Vogue Tex (Pvt) Limited(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Ramanayaka, D. S.; Silva, H. M. S. V.Employees performing work tasks effectively and interacting effectively with peers and subordinates, the employee must exert self-control. Self-control helps employees to control their emotions, feelings, behavior, and thoughts. This study analyzed factors’ impact on employee self-control. The study considers four variables. such as employee self-control as a dependent variable and interpersonal relationships, individual differences, psychological adjustments as independent variables. The study followed quantitative research design and deductive approach. This study was carried out as a cross-sectional field study among sample of 169 sewing machine operators in Vogue Tex (Pvt) Ltd. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample and primary data were collected using a standard questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, regression, and correlation analysis were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). It was found that interpersonal relationships, individual differences, and psychological adjustment have significant effect on employee self-control. And this study revealed that the positive effect of interpersonal relationship and psychological adjustment on employee self-control was accepted, but individual differences hasn’t positive effect on employee self-control, then the positive effect of individual differences on employee self-control was rejected. Findings of the study have the potential of practical implication for organization to assess interpersonal relationships and psychological adjustments, for increased their employees’ self-control. In conclusion, based on the adjusted R square value, these three variables do not highly impact employee self-control.Item Factors Impact on Occupational Stress during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Study of Nurses in the Teaching Hospital of Rathnapura District(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Priyadarshani, G. N.; Silva, H. M. S. V.This study analyzed factors' impact on occupational stress. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing occupational stress using evidence from nurses of the health sector in the Teaching Hospital of Rathnapura District. The prior researcher has found that different factors such as burnout, anxiety, depression as factors that influence occupational stress. However, long working hours, poor sleep, heavy workload are considered major factors which influence occupational stress. This study followed the quantitative research method and deductive approach. In this study, the researcher conducted a cross-sectional survey among the sample of 150 nurses in the Teaching Hospital of Rathnapura by randomly selecting from the population and standard questionnaire used to collect primary data. Further, the researcher distributed in online mode, as a Google form to respondents directly. The collected data were analyzed with the support of SPSS encoding descriptive statistics, correlation, multiple linear regression, and residual analysis for model fitness. Based on the findings, this study is found a positive relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. The researcher ran multiple linear regression to test the hypothesis of the study. Since the researcher's findings show that there is a significant impact of independent variables and dependent variable. All hypotheses are accepted in this study. Finally, the researcher is recommended to develop an occupational stress management program that can be added to the curriculum of nursing education so that they can manage their stress in the future.Item Factors Impact on Perceived Adoption towards Self Service Kiosks in Sri Lankan Public Banking; Western Province(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Silva, B. M. D. S.; Silva, H. M. S. V.This research paper examined the impact of consumer perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness on consumer adoption towards Self-service kiosks (SSK). Moreover, moderating impact of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on attitude of banking customers was also tested in this study. A conceptual model of adoption process for SSK is developed and tested among Sri Lankan public banking consumers in western province. Based on Technology Acceptance Module, A linear structural relations methodological approach is used to develop conceptual framework. The current study found that both perceived ease of use and usefulness have direct impact on adoption of SSK. Further, consumer attitude acts as a partial mediator between the relationship of consumer perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and SSK adoption. This study has emphasized that system designers and bank managers need to consider system ease of use, perceived usefulness and consumer attitude towards technology when designing and implementing self-service kiosks system in Sri Lanka. Since all variables have moderate impact on consumer adoption it is important to consider other antecedents when designing a self-service kiosk.Item Factors Predict the Work-Life Balance of Operational Workers in the Aviation Industry of Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Rajapaksha, E. H. H. M.; Silva, H. M. S. V.This research study was based on the work-life balance of current operational level employees in the Aviation industry. The purpose of this study was to examine the factors that predicted the work-life balance of operational workers in the Aviation industry in Sri Lanka. In addition to that, this study intended to contribute to filling the literature gap by looking into the relationship between the dependent variable of employee work-life balance and other independent variables including Perceived organizational support, Work overload and Perceived family support. This study adopted a deductive approach and quantitative research method using a survey research strategy. The operational level employees in the Aviation industry (Airport & aviation services (SL) Ltd) were chosen as the population of the study and a simple random sampling technique was used as the sampling technique. Accordingly, the sample size was 260 and used primary data as the data source, data collection was done through a self-administered online questionnaire. Finally, it was proved that there was a significant impact of perceived organizational support, work overload and perceived family support on employee work-life balance. The research findings were providing a good understanding for top managers in the organization about the work and non-work-related matters and these efforts may enhance the work-life balance among the employees and can be overcome their work and personal life-related issues.Item The Impact of High Performance Work System on Innovative Employee Behavior of Operational Employee Behavior with Special Reference to One of Leading Tiles Manufacturing Company in Sri Lanka(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Siriwardana, S. W.; Silva, H. M. S. V.The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of high performance work system on innovative employee behavior of operational employees in one of leading tiles manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka. This is a quantitative study conducted within the positivistic research philosophy using the deductive approach. This study was an individual-level study with a sample of 68 operational level employees. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. Survey strategy was followed and a self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Simple linear regression was used to test the direct impact and it revealed that high performance work system impact on innovative employee behavior. Further, it found that the employee engagement is a partial mediator on the relationship between high performance work system (HPWS) and innovative employee behavior. Findings suggest that company can maintain more high performance work system to increase innovative employee behavior. Based on the findings, it is suggested to use training programs and compensation practices to improve innovative behavior during the working time and to develop ability enhancing practices like training programs to stimulate employees in order to generate new knowledge and utilize the gained knowledge to meet higher performance standards.Item Impact of Organizational Citizenship Behavior on Role Conflict: A Study of a Leading Paints Manufacturing Company in Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2017) Silva, H. M. S. V.; Ranasinghe, W. A. C. U. K.The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on Role conflict in a leading paint company Sri Lanka. This is a quantitative study conducted within the positivistic research philosophy using the deductive approach. This study was carried out as cross sectional study with a sample of 150 operational level employees who are directly engaged with the production process. Simple random sampling and survey strategy was followed in the study. A self-administered, anonymous, pre-tested questionnaire was used for data collection purpose. A theoretical basis for a relationship between OCB and role conflict was identified using Role theory. The first hypothesis was tested using multiple regression analysis and it was possible to conclude that there is a that 60 % of the variance in role conflict of operational level employees is explained by organizational citizenship behavior alone. The dimensional analysis was conducted to test sub hypotheses of H1 and it revealed that civic virtue as a most influential dimension (ß =.580, p < 0.05) of OCB on role conflict of operational level employees. As the number of studies testified OCB on role conflict in the Sri Lankan context is limited the present findings have implications for researchers and practitioners to identify efforts that work toward increasing commitment of team members, thereby increasing organizational citizenship behavior in the organization.Item Impact of Organizational Justice on Employee Commitment: A Study of Executive and Above Level Employee in EAM Maliban Textile Groups in Rathnapura District, Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Priyanandana, K. H. I. R.; Silva, H. M. S. V.This study was investigated the Impact of organizational Justice on employee commitment in executive and above level employees in EAM Maliban Group in Rathnapura District. This study was a quantitative explanatory study. This study was a cross sectional study and data were collected using standard questionnaire. Questionnaire were distributed to a sample of 150 executive and above level employees attached to the company. Convenience sampling technique was followed. The hypothesis was tested using simple linear regression analysis via SPSS. Study findings revealed that there was a significant positive impact of organizational justice and employee commitment of executive and above level employees in this company. The present study provides direction to HR policy makers, employees, supervisors and future researchers. The current study was limited to the One Organization and one location.Item Impact of Tax Policy Changes on Tax Revenue in Sri Lanka(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Shahani, M. I. A.; Silva, H. M. S. V.The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue in Sri Lanka. This is a quantitative study conducted using deductive approach and secondary data sources. This study was carried out by using secondary data sources of Annual Reports of Central Bank and Performance Report of the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue of Sri Lanka. Data for the time series from 2006 to 2016 was used to carry out this study. Further, interview method was used in order to identify reasons and possible factors which affect the impact of variables. Data analysis was done by using both descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The relationship between two variables were identified by using Pearson Correlation and concluded that there is a positive moderate correlation between variables. The first hypothesis was tested using linear regression analysis and it was concluded that there is no significant impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue within that period from 2006 to 2016. There are very limited number of studies done in Sri Lanka in the field of taxation and difficult to reach some data with the policies and procedure of the government of the country. Since, there were no any studies done for the period from 2006 to 2016 to assess the impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue, thus study fulfills the requirement accordingly. V.Employees performing work tasks effectively and interacting effectively with peers and subordinates, the Coronavirus which hit in early 2020, changed the way people live and work, and it affected industries and organizations all over the world. The purpose of this study to assess the impact of work from home on work productivity by mediating the effect of work-life balance and work stress. This study followed quantitative research design and deductive approach. This study was carried out as a cross-sectional field study among a sample of 121 executive level employees in the selected manufacturing organizations in BOI Zone, Horana. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample and primary data were collected using a standard questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, regression and correlation analysis were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). It is found that work from home and work life balance have significant effect on work productivity, but work stress hasn’t significant effect on work productivity. And this study revealed that the mediation effect of work life balance on work from home and work productivity was accepted, however the mediation effect of work stress on work from home and work productivity was rejected. Findings of the study have the potential of practical implication for organization to assess the overall interest and feelings of the employees towards work productivity in the pandemic period. And this study can serve as a basis for measuring work productivity in terms of balancing employees’ work and managing their work stress by practicing work from home. In response to the collectivist setting, working from home can be a positive sign that needs to be paid attention to for the organization.Item The Impact of Workplace Bullying on Employee’s Intention to Quit: With Special Reference to one of the Leading Sales and Distribution Company in Sri Lanka.(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Senarathna, P. V. N. N.; Silva, H. M. S. V.The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of workplace bulling on employee’s intention to leave in the context of sales representatives in one of a leading sales and distribution company in Sri Lanka. Additionally, this study examines the moderating effect of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) in between the concepts of workplace bulling and employee’s intention to quit. This study is a quantitative study and carried out following the deductive approach. Meanwhile, this study is used 63 sample of sales representatives for the study. Moreover, this study is used random sampling technique as the sampling technique of the study. Survey strategy was used and standard pre tested questionnaire was used to gather data. First hypothesis was tested using regression analysis. It was identified that there was a positive significance impact between the workplace bulling and employee’s intention to leave within the study context. Afterwards, moderator was analyzed using the Moderator Multiply Regression (MMR) and POS was not identified as the moderator in the relationship between the workplace bulling and intention to leave in current context. Thus, Hypothesis 2 was rejected. Even though studies exist in relation to these constructs, limited number of studies have been done considering the Sri Lankan context. Hence, present study fulfills the research requirements within Sri Lankan context and proven theory of unfolding model can be applied in the Lankan context as well.
