Item A Critical Analysis of Online Consumer Buying Behavior of Cosmetics Products in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2021) Savinda, K.W.K.; Wedasinghe, N.Consumer behavior is dynamic and differed from one product to another due to dissimilarities in the Social, Cultural, Psychological and Personal factors. Cosmetics are one of the essential products in Sri Lanka which the consumer demand has been shifted to the virtual platform as a result of current COVID-19 pandemic, development of IT platforms and computer literacy of the consumers, convenience, less time and cost. Insufficient research findings and research gaps were identified in Sri Lanka and global previous literature with related to the consumer purchasing behavior of cosmetics. Therefore, this study was conducted to achieve research objectives of identifying significant factors, any correlation and to form a new model related to the online consumer buying behavior of Sri Lanka. Qualitative and quantitative techniques were utilized to analyze the data which extracted form a structured questionnaire and a Likert scale questionnaire. Significant factors, a cumulative impact and a strong correlation were identified in the data analysis which satisfied the research objectives. A new model was constructed based on the research findings.Item Effective Use of Retail Store Management System for Small Retail Store(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2021) Gunawardana, W.J.D.Y.; Wedasinghe, N.Small retail store owners make a huge commitment to the daily running of customer requirements. The retail sector categorized as retail store, moderate store, clean food store, specialty food and non-food store, and unorganized retail store. This research focuses specifically on effectively use of a small retail store management system. Small retailers face numerous key problems and the researchers highlighted that the main reason for the problems they face is lack of use systematic information system. Nevertheless, some retailers use an existing basic computer application and they are fundamental system. Therefore, focuses on effective management information systems to achieve their business objectives become a fashion. Research has conducted with the exploration in subjective and quantitative basis survey. This study, conducted with twelve structured interviews had with retail store owners covering the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Research reveals that the basic need of the retail owner is to increase profits by maintaining the retail outlets in a systematic manner even at the rural level. Furthermore including system features with retrieval of transaction details, effective stock management reminders about stock for effective management, forecast using artificial intelligence on stock management would be the key features to implement an effective retail store management system.Item A Framework to overcome disability digital divide in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Wedasinghe, N.; Wicramaarchchi, R.; Sirisoma, N.The term digital divide was introduced in the 1990s to define the gap between those who have access to new forms of information and communication technologies (ICTs) from those who do not have access . Due to a disability some people are getting disadvantage of accessing Information Technology. This problem is known by the disability digital divide. Disability is a main issue in Sri Lanka due to 30 years of civil war in the country. Therefore disability digital divide is a pertinent research problem for Sri Lanka. Researcher has proved with two initial surveys with including 314 and 180 sample set Sri Lanka is having a disability digital divide problems. First phase of these study two set of samples were interviewed to identify the current disability digital divide in the country. Initially 314 participants were interviewed and in the second set of sample including with 180 disabled participants. Findings indicated that an ICT technology used by the differently abled community is low in Sri Lanka. Therefore this study proposes a framework to overcome disability digital divide in the country. This framework consists with different dimensions to overcome the disability digital divide such as Technology consideration, Government intervention and Policy implementation, Social and Cultural intervention and economical intervention. Propose solutions are including with web site standard development and implementations, user friendliness of software development, Infrastructure development issues, Social and cultural changers, Financial support for specially people having with disability. In addition to that training and development on technology will be helpful to overcome disability digital divide.Item Implementation of Business Process Management System: A Case Study Relevant to Janitorial Industry (Sithumina Cleaning Service Pvt Ltd)(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2021) Ranahansani, N.G.C.; Gunathilake, W.; Wedasinghe, N.Business Process Management (BPM) is the emerging concept that enables the business to simplify the business operation with technology. The main aim of development of the concept related to the BPM within the organization is enhance the efficiency of the organization. This research study identified the research problem of increasing the business process issues with the manual work and decline the employee satisfaction. This research paper is designed based on the survey results conducted with 50 participants from the Sithumina” Cleaning Service (PVT) Limited. The survey result found that the business organization is carried out all the business process manual, and business stakeholders are not satisfied with the current process. The analysis is done with the different perspective of organization process and the automation of the process. As a result, the business recommends automating the business process using customized software developed as Business Process Management (BPM).Item Rethinking the Disability Digital Divide in Relations to Visual Disability in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2015) Wedasinghe, N.; Wicramarachchi, R.People who are blind or visually impaired do not have equal opportunities to access information technology and internet access compared to the non disabled population in Sri Lanka. The level of usage of ICT by the disabled and non disabled are different in developed and developing countries. The purpose of this study is to find the reasons behind the digital divide among the people with visual disabilities in Sri Lanka and proposed solutions to eliminate digital divide among the Sri Lankan visually impaired differently able community. This study was conducted based on the literature behind the Digital divide, social construction of disability, The digital age, the development of information technology and Internet related technology and Other countries and Sri Lankan corporate policies related to information technology and main problems and issues faced by the visually impaired people when accessing ICT and Internet. In order to collect information on the Sri Lankan disability digital divide, interviews were conducted with a range of government representatives and more than 75 visually impaired civil and military computer users in Sri Lanka. As a result of this study it has been indicated that compared to other developed nations, Sri Lanka has also addressed the issue by implementing Nanasala project through ICTA and improving the telecommunication infrastructure with in the country and many other projects via private and public institutions with in the country. Survey results indicated that many Sri Lankans with disabilities are reluctant to use Information technology due to poverty, lack of awareness, lack of interest and their social and cultural backgrounds and also as their first language is not very well supported by the computer system. These factors are highly co-related with digital disability in Sri Lanka. Conclusions and recommendations are made by proposing implementation of several projects under the supervision of the central government. They are to introduce a web portal for visually disabled people with language support, more training and awareness of the ICT among this community, encourage and develop screen reader software which can support first languages such as Tamil and Sinhala.Item Use of Image Processing to Easy e-content Reader for Differently-Abled Personnel(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Mithrasena, A.H.R.P.; Kulasekara, D.M.R.; Wedasinghe, N.Differently-abled or physical disability is distinct as limitation of a person’s ability to carry out the activities of daily living, to the level that he or she may need help in doing so. The differently-abled personnel, especially people with various amputations face the issue of not being able to use the devices that allow them to access e-content properly. This paper suggests an application that is able to scroll the page of e-content with the human eye. The eyes are identified and tracked in real-time to use their actions for scrolling events. The basic strategy for detection is fast extraction of the face of the image in front of the screen with image processing technology. Between-the-Eyes is selected as a face representative because of its features are common to most people and is easily seen for a varied range of face orientation. Most of them were permanently disabled while working in the National security forces in the country. The objective of this study is to overcome the difficulties faced by blind or visually impaired community in Sri Lanka using Internet of things (IOT) concept. The study is basically consisting with two phases. In the first phase of the study examined the current technology adaption among the differently abled community in Sri Lanka and problems faced by them. The second phase examines how the modern new technologies such as Internet of things (IoT) successfully solving the issues in globally and develop a model to overcome the Sri Lankan disability digital divide. First phase of these study two set of samples were interviewed to identify the current disability digital divide in the country. Initially 314 participants were interviewed and in the second set of sample including with 180 disabled participants. Sample selected from different communities, different disabled categories and different geographical locations. Findings indicated that basic level ICT technologies used by the differently abled community are low. Findings indicated that Network layer, Application layer and Presentation layer considerations are need to be importance to overcome the disability digital divide as a holistic model to overcome the disability digital divide in the country.
