Remote access for personal cloud devices
(International Research Conference on Smart Computing and Systems Engineering - SCSE 2018, 2018) Wickramarachchi, A.; Mallawaarachchi, V.
With the developments in cloud computing, there have been raising concerns towards the privacy of content stored in the cloud. People tend to steer towards personal cloud devices as they improve the locality of data by holding such cloud devices in the vicinity, in order to ensure data privacy. These devices are mostly found in the form of Network-attached Storages (NAS) that are accessible within the local network. Although there are gains in security and privacy, numerous drawbacks exist among personal cloud devices when compared to cloud-based solutions. One major drawback is the remote access to content and sharing of content with remote users. A popular method of sharing media to remote users is the generation of a link, which is globally accessible through a centralized server. The proposed solution implements a link sharing mechanism, an online cross platform file browser and a remote access control mechanism which uses end-to-end encrypted tunnels to communicate in a peer-to-peer manner. This solution makes use of WebRTC which utilizes Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) to ensure encrypted delivery of data. The presented text contains the experimental setup, user interfaces and results obtained after evaluating the performance of the proposed system.

A Scalable Bioinformatics Analysis Platform based on Microservices Architecture
(IEEE International Research Conference on Smart computing & Systems Engineering (SCSE) 2019, Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2019) Rajapaksa, S.; Wickramarachchi, A.; Mallawaarachchi, V.; Rasanjana, W.; Perera, I.; Meedeniya, D.
With the advancement of technologies, web services play a significant role to maintain infrastructure in healthcare domain due to the increasing demand of performance. In such systems, adoption of novel technologies is necessary to increase the productivity and reduce the burden of maintenance associated with legacy systems. Microservices architecture has become prominent in deploying server-side enterprise applications by allowing maintainable functionalities. However, it is challenging to utilize microservices in the domain of bioinformatics, although it enables independent process execution and maintenance. This paper introduces the utilization of microservices architecture to build an optimized platform for bioinformatics analyses. We present a hybrid architecture that consists of different hardware platforms to execute accelerated computational services, independently. The core communication is based on an Application Programming Interface (API) gateway. Furthermore, the paper presents the evaluation of results related to the performance of the proposed solution under varying biological sequences as inputs and algorithms

Selecting the best logistics service providers by evaluating the sustainability performance using AHP and linear programming problem
(International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling, 2022) Prabodhika, A. P. K. J.; Wickramarachchi, A.; Niwunhella, D.; Wijayanayake, A.
Many manufacturers and retailers often outsource their logistics functions to logistics service providers (LSPs) to focus more on their core business process. Due to the competitiveness and the popularity of the sustainability concept, those organisations evaluate their prospective LSPs not only based on economic aspects but also social and environmental aspects. This paper proposes a framework that can be used by organisations when evaluating and selecting LSPs based on their sustainability performance. A composite sustainability performance index (CSPI) is constructed, incorporating multiple dimensions and indicators related to economic, social, and environmental aspects, which are widely used to measure sustainability performance. A linear programming (LP) model is then proposed, which allows the organisations to decide the desired number of LSPs after considering all requirements and limitations. The proposed framework is flexible as it depends on the sustainability requirements of the organisation when selecting LSPs.
