Item A Study about E- Government Services and Its Usage Provide by Sri Lanka Government to Citizens Specifically on Three Services.(Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Shyamali, P.T.C.E government refers to the use of Information and communication technology give to provide citizens with more convenient access to the government’s services and information. As the usage of Information technology is growing fast, Sri Lankan government is making many efforts to provide services to its citizens through e government. In 2007, Sri Lanka government was adopted e government policy and then launched e government project with support of Sri Lanka Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA). There are many e government services which delivered by Sri Lankan e government to its citizens. Among these e government services selected three e services which most important to citizens in their day today life. Those are online exam result services, online vehicle license service and online train schedule service to this research. Sri Lankan government is spending lot of money one government project. The purpose of the research is study about the usage of e government service in rural areas. The method of this research is interviews and questionnaire. The data collection-using questionnaire from 300 people who lived in Benthota Divisional Secretariat Division. How the communities use e government services is surveyed. Their awareness, attitudes also studied. It is also expected to study the facilities and provisions of e government services available in those intuitions attached to Benthota Divisional Secretariat Division.Item Usage of E-Government Services Provided by Sri Lankan Government for Citizen.(Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Darsha, T.D.H.Increase the people’s participation of all the government affairs using the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and new Medias, creates a good governance. Provisions of all the needy services of people and working continuously with those to build a better connection with them through all the means ICTs is called as e-government services. Information of any given country is a resource, which directly affect the all civilians. E-government services are developed to offer government services quickly and accurately for the public. The e-government services policy formulated by Sri Lankan government and implemented with a joint effort by Information and Communication Technology Agency office attached to government of Sri Lanka. The purpose of the study is to survey on the poor awareness of the public on e-services offered by the government. The principal objective of this study is to investigate the use of e government services provided by Sri Lankan government to the public. The data will be collected by selecting a random sample from the scholars in the field of education using categories like physicians, lawyers, academic staff of universities and the teachers. It is expected to choose 50 scholars from each of the above mentioned filed. Data will be collected by questionnaire and interview methods. Excel and SPSS software will be used in the data analysis. The tendency of public towards the usage of Sri Lankan e-government services could be increased with the results of the study.Item Role of the Public Library in Promoting Tourist Information Services with a Support of Formal Online Information Service.(Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Kumarasingha, A.P.The foreign industry, which is a skillfullabor business that holds the third place in the national and international economy has already, became the most prominent foreign exchange earner in the world. This study focusses to investigate the feasibility of launching an online foreign information service for tourism. It was aimed to use the public library system in order to improve the local tourist industry, which is one of the economic booms of Asian tourism. Since the study is limited in influenced public libraries of Colombo, Nuwaraeliya and Hikkaduwa maintaining an online tourist information center establishing website recognizing tourist attracting points and monuments directing the tourist community towards them and improving the information services by the use of the second generation web 2.0 on the internet. The primary data was collected by a questionnaire focusing on tree librarians of three public libraries involved in the research process and a structured questionnaire for thirty tourists ten from each of the public library domain area. The conclusion is that the three public libraries do not operate any online information service at present. It was found that adequate tourist information management is not in operation and therefore there is an acute demand and a need for tourist information management for public libraries particularly in tourist dominant areas. It is a highly requirement that the public library should conduct tourist information service for both local and foreign tourists. Building mutual relationship between tourism and libraries is a dire need. This will be beneficial for shelf- help and the cooperation between tourist industry and the public libraries. This will help marketing the information service, revealing unrecognized tourist destination and adding the foreign exchange income that flows into private institutions and multinational companies daily with proper management with a view to earn prospective national income. This will help to create more job avenues and the public libraries will become more user-friendly places with local and foreign tourists.Item Identification of Obstacles in Implementing the Inter-Library Cooperation among the Sri Lankan University Libraries: A Case Study.(Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Kumara, H.U.C.S.Library is place which information, human resource, funds, space, library materials, tools, techniques etc. are necessary for the provision of its services to communities. However, owing to the scarcity of such resources, libraries are compelled to engage with inter library cooperation activities in developed, developing and under-developed countries. Therefore, inter library cooperation has become a universal phenomenon and the principal objective of this paper is to investigate the obstacles faced by the university libraries in inter-library cooperation activity. The survey method was applied for achieving the aims of this research. Primary data collected using questionnaires and interviews. According to the study, three libraries of universities used as a sample. There are, University of Peradeniya, University of Colombo, and University of Kelaniya. Here population categorized as in to two parts. As first part is to choose staff crew in the main libraries of Peradeniya, Colombo and Kelaniya universities. As second part is 75 final year students who are studying in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Management and Faculty of Science covering of all three universities. The data which acquired by questionnaires analyzed using Ms Excel software. The tables, charts and the bar charts presented data. As conclusions, it can be identified there are lot of obstacles such as Each and every university acts as separate independent body. All the university libraries, should not follow a unique procedure. Inter library cooperation is not much efficient and successful. No proper leadership for university libraries. Influence of security principles, followed by librarians. Lack of specialists, who have specific knowledge on new technology in this field. Minimum financial supports for this field. Prevailing in the process of the inter library cooperation.
