    Library and Information Science (LIS) education is 100 years old traditional field and remarkable achievement in the administration of the library and tremendous services to the user community. Curriculum develops the students through various ways like teaching, learning methods, instructional design, and internship cum training during the studies, and extension activities. This paper will discuss the LIS Education in India, Committees for the development of LIS Curriculum, Challenges for implementation of new curriculum, Impact of ICT in LIS Education. This paper concludes that the government should initiate National Knowledge committee’s recommendations and appoint the committee to review the curriculum the present trends

    Current Status & Future Challenges of the Public Libraries in Sri Lanka for the Pattern Change: a Case Study

    This study focuses on the current status future challengers of the public libraries where located in the Polonnaruwa district in the North Central Province (NCP) in Sri Lanka with the perspectives of its properties, services, users and the staffs and latter part of the discusses the future challenges with the pattern change of the library professionals’ perspective. The questionnaire and interview were used as instruments in this study to collect data. The study revealed that the public libraries of Polonnaruwa District are not in the correct position by collection development. It also pointed out the most of the libraries are administered by the non-professional staffs. The major challenger was examined that library staffs are not in the good satisfaction level about their promotion mechanism. Finally it was reviled that the need of deep study about their problems strategically and address them quickly to uplift the service to the up to date level

    A Study on the Relationship between Citizens’ Awareness and the Usage of EGovernment Services in Sri Lanka

    Currently the internet access in within reach for majority of the people in the world. Due to this trend, many counties, organizations have used ICT as a communication medium which would allow the end users to be connected easily and to provide necessary services easily and efficiently. Therefore, with the help of the aforementioned technological advancements and improved infrastructures, the governments all over the world are trying to provide their services to the citizens through online. In order to provide e- government services, Sri Lankan government has introduced “E- Sri Lanka National Development” project in the year of 2005 and Sri Lanka government web portal was the central place of the same implementation. This study aims to identify the relationship between citizens’ awareness and the usage of e-government services in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, it was able to identify key issues related to the usage of e-government applications and suggestions were made to improve citizens’ awareness and the usage of e-government service
