    Impact of Brand Personality Determinants towards Purchasing Intention: A Study on Branded Umbrella Products in Sri Lanka

    All Marketing Managers are trying to win the market by differentiating their products among the customers by using the product and brand related factors. Among those factors brand personality is still critical factor to those marketing managers to create the differentiation in the market. Therefore the purpose of this study is explore the relationship of brand personality determinants and purchase intention with referring to the Sri Lankan branded umbrella products. The convenience sampling method was used to collect the primary data. A total of 100 questionnaire were distributed among the umbrella consumers and collected the primary data based on researcher administrated method. Respondent rete is 100%. Multiple regression analysis used for test the hypotheses. The primary data collected only from Kandy and Colombo Districts among the age limit of 15-45 years umbrella consumers with targeting the only 100 consumers to analysis. The lack of generalization of this study is that it is limited to the branded umbrella industry. Findings of this studies are Excitement and Ruggedness are positively affect to the purchasing intention referring to the branded umbrella products of Sri Lanka. Sincerity, Competence and Sophistication are not positively affect to the purchasing intention referring to the branded umbrella products of Sri Lanka.

    Impact of Lean System on Merchandizing Performance Excellence

    The study sets to achieve two objectives namely, identify the extent to which Lean system performance impact on Merchandizing Performance and bring recommends to horizontally replicate the research findings for similar organizations. The source of data for this study were both primary and secondary, and also the company data sources were assisted to fulfill this task. Since the company management encouraged for an effective outcome, the performance information was linked and opened throughout the research and the entire team involved taken for this program was consisted 160 merchandisers, where the total directly responding population was represented. The questionnaire was filled with main three categories, namely General Information, Lean System Performance, and Merchandising Performance and Lean System Performance was split into three sub areas, namely Safety and Ergonomics, Quality Management and Continuous Improvement. The data was analyzed through the SPSS software, and according to the findings, the Pearson’s correlation analysis justifies the positive correlations between safety and ergonomics, total quality management and continuous improvement with the Lean System Performance. The (R2) was 11.0%, which is the extent positively influenced to the Merchandizing Performance by the existing Lean System in the organization. The study also found out that the organization believes Lean System practices improve the long term business performance and this study establishes safety and ergonomics, quality management system and continuous improvement activity performance emanating from the implementation of lean system practices, and it impacts to the merchandizing performance as a front-end customer interface function of the organization.

    Organizational Structure Influence on the Technological Adaptation by the SMEs in Sri Lanka: With Special Reference to Automobile Industry

    In most of the developing countries the development in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is a critical factor in the economic development in the country. However, SMEs have disadvantages related to the lack of technological and financial resources which can lead not only to problems in their ability to source technology but also in their capability to absorb it into their organization and diffuse it into their industrial sector (Jones-Evans, 1998). In this context the adopting the new technology is an important factor in the development in the SMEs. According to the Mirmahdi Darbanhosseiniamirkhiz et al (2012) the mostly the SMEs in non-adapting the technology due to the internal organizational factors. The objective of this study is to assess the level of influence by the organizational structure in the adapting the new technologies in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Sri Lankan context. The objective of the paper provides better understanding to the SMEs to organize their organizational structure to achieve the desired goals and objectives by utilizing the hard technologies in the organizational context. In this context the research problem is to identify the relationship between the organization structure and the technological adaptation by the SMEs in Sri Lanka. This study consists with the comprehensive literature review and also with the primary data gathering based on the questionnaire. This paper is a theoretical construction that synthesizes previous studies, and centers on the internal organizational structure which influence adoption of hard technologies. According with the research finding of close relationship between the organizational structure and the technology adaptation by the SMEs. This model can provide managers with practical solutions through granting in-depth understanding of whole internal environment, and awarding empirical insight into overcoming barriers to the adoption and implementation of hard technologies and other process innovations in automobile sector SMEs in Sri Lanka.
