    A study on the curse concept of literary creations (Based on the Meghaduthay, Shakunthala, and Kadambari).

    In creation of literature, the artists used many poetry tricks and also most of the artists have used the curse concept. The curse concept means just revenging on someone blaming, criticizing insulting. This concept has been used into many creations of great poet Kalidasa and our research question is “for what purpose has Kalidasa used this curse concept in his creations.” For that it is used the two creations of Kalidasa, “Meghadutha” and “Shakunthala” and One prose as “Kadambari”. By doing interviews with scholars and referring literary resources it can be come in to a conclusion that Kalidasa has used curse concept on highlighting love and pain of love seriously.

    A critical study of the influence of Ashwaghosha-thera in Dileepa raja-varnana of Kalidasa.

    The great poetven.Ashvagosha is hailed as the first poet of the great Sanskrit poetry and the most prominent poet who took subject matters for poetry in Buddhist stories. His second poetic work is Saundarananda poetry collection. Kalidasa is hailed as the poet of the golden era of secular Sanskrit literature. Raghuvansha is considered the masterpiece of kalidasa. The origin and regal existence of sun dynasty and is the thematic concern of Raghuvansha, while much focus is given to the heroic deeds of the noble kings. Saundarananda poetry collection is woven around the legend of the prince Nanda and princess Sundari who were intended to get married. Its second part consists of an appreciation on King Suddhodhana. Raghuvansha also consists of an appreciation on King Dileepa. These two poetic works have influenced from one another. Commenting on it, many Indian Pundits believe that Ashwaghosha has been influenced by kalidasa. However, now it is commonly acknowledged that Kalsidasa had been influenced by Ashwaghosha. The hypotheis of this study is to examine whether the appreciation of King Suddhodana in Saundarananda had influenced the appreciation of king Dileepa in Raghuvansha. Raghuvansha appreciates king Dileepain 18 verses in the first part, whereas AshwagoshaPada appreciates King Suddhodana approximately in 44 verses in the second part. Both these appreciations hail wisdom, awareness and statecraft of these two kings in an identical manner. In addition to that attitudes towards rivals and companion are also identical. Moreover, many similar characteristics can be identified in terms of the presenting facts on moral values and statecraft. Therefore, the objective of this study is to elucidate sources to reinforce the idea that kalidasa had been influenced by Ashvaghosha.

    An investigative study of poetry “Aurudda” (year), Sinhala adaptation of poetry “Shrithusanharaya” (seasonal changes) written by great poet Kalidasa.

    Priority has been given to Kalidasa when investigating the literature of cultural poetries. He lived in the glorious age of mysterious culture which was identified as the revival period of mysterious culture. Poetries written before 15 centuries by Kalidasa are still subjected to the appreciation of present comrades. “Shrithusanharaya” which was written by Kalidasa was translated to Sinhalese as an adaptation called “Aurudda”. The main objective of this experiment is to make an investigative study of the adapted poetry “Aurudda”. Identification of the subject matter, language & creative features of this book is the main significance of this experiment. The main issue of this experiment is that up to what extent those features were included in this adaptation. Primary & secondary sources were used as the research methodology. “Kalidasage Aurudda”(year of Kalidasa), a translated poetry written by ven.Panditha Rekawa Pagngnasiddhiwas taken as the primary source while taking reviews, articles & books related to the above poetry as secondary sources. Six seasonal changes occur inan year were become the subject matter of this poetry. It shows how the nature adds colours to human lives with its changes. This was written according to the theories of cultural poetic tradition by manifesting incomparable creativity of the poet. Authenticity & humility of the poet was identified while entertaining the poetry.
