Item Enhancing Employee Performance in Sri Lanka's Hospitality Industry: The Roles of Organizational Culture, Autonomy, and Counselling(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2024) Dangalla, D. R.The hospitality industry in Sri Lanka is a vital contributor to the economy but faces challenges like high staff turnover, skill gaps, and employee dissatisfaction. This study examines the impact of organizational culture, job autonomy, and counselling on employee performance, focusing on the mediating roles of motivation and organizational commitment. Using a survey of 350 operational-level employees in Colombo city hotels, the research employs quantitative methods, including regression analysis. Findings reveal that job autonomy and counselling significantly enhance employee performance, while organizational culture shows no direct impact. Motivation and organizational commitment mediate the relationships between these variables and performance, highlighting their importance in fostering workforce productivity. These insights provide actionable recommendations for hotel management to improve employee satisfaction and service quality, ultimately strengthening the sector’s sustainability and success. D. M. C.; Weerasinghe, T. D.The concept and the practice of employee empowerment Human Resource Management is an important concept for the apparel sector as well. Because empowerment leads to both job satisfaction and organization’s goals achievements. Highly satisfied staff is most important in achieving this target. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the factors of success of employee empowerment with special reference two garments factories in Kegalle and Gampaha area. In deciding the sample size of the Supporting employees for this research the researcher used 100 operational level employees for the sample. To test the hypothesis of this study, primary data were used. Primary data were collected through comprehensive Questionnaires given to Machine Operators and Supervisors. The data which collected from the questionnaire, analyzed descriptively using tables, frequencies and percentages. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 23 was used for statistical analysis process. Those data presented by using tables and graphs. According to the participants’ responses and the analysis of this study employee empowerment has a positive and significant impact on organization culture, leadership style, communication style and self-esteem leads towards higher level of employee’s empowerment. Thus, with local employees, as members of the same nation sharing similar work-related cultural values (Hofstede, 1984; 2001), the problem then pinpoints to whether employees feel an obligation to stay attached to the international management organizations, and hence, to decisions of turnover. Thus, leading to the question: “What is the relationship between Organizational Culture and Turnover Intention?". The study seeks to add knowledge to the current knowledge body of Organizational culture within the areas of organizational culture and the management of employees within the service sector in general and the information technology industry in particular, by applying new methods to the labor turnover phenomenon. The research has been motivated by a determination to acquire insight into the relationship between organizational culture and labor turnover. Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) is used to measure organizational culture and intention to quit scale will be used to measure turn over intention in this study. This study fills a gap in the literature by acknowledging the findings of the organizational culture and turn over intention, hence it will test and validate the model in organization culture and turn over intention in Sri Lankan information technology sector.Item The Relationship between Organization Culture and the Retention of Operational Level Employees in Polytex Garments Limited(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Balasooriya, B.M.K.; Mohan, D.U.Organization culture is one of the major determinants of employee retention in all organizations. Matching organization culture with employee’s necessities is very essential for obtaining maximum contribution of employees towards organizational objectives. Therefore it is needed to identify the relationship and the impact of organization culture towards retention of employees. Hence, the main focus of this study is to identify the impact of organization culture on the retention of employees, working at Polytex Garments Ltd and understand the degree of its impact. The study was conducted among the sample of 60 operational level employees who are in Polytex Garments Ltd, Yakkala, where the response rate was 100%. Respondents were asked to indicate their preference on five point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 20.0) using the statistical techniques such as mean, correlation & Regression analysis. Findings of the study indicate that there is a positive relationship between organization culture and the retention of operational level employees. That means Polytex Garments Ltd can use their culture to influence the retention of its operational level employees.
