A. M. R. C. J.; Rebecca, E.This study investigates the impact of leadership style and work environment on employee performance, with a focus on the mediating role of work motivation. Employee performance outcomes are significantly influenced by leadership style and a positive work environment. In order to investigate this impact, the researcher focused on only one selected IT company. Leadership style, work environment and work motivation play a pivotal determinant of the employee performance. A comprehensive literature review serves as the foundation for the research, including theories and empirical findings from leadership style, work environment, work motivation and employee performance. A cross-sectional quantitative research framework applied for the conduct of this study. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and the study used employs survey and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) analysis for data collection and interpretation. The analyzed results indicate that there is a positive impact of leadership style and work environment on employee performance with the mediation effect of work motivation. Consequently, this study provides significant implications for the company determining strategies to enhance employee performance and to retain the talented employees within the organization.Item IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE ON JOB SATISFACTION OF PRODUCTION EMPLOYEES IN ABC PVT LTD(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Wedagedara, W.B.M.L.; De Silva, G.H.B.A.This study investigates the relationship between organizational climate and job satisfaction among production employees at ABC Pvt Ltd, a key player in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing sector. Addressing a gap in existing research, this study examines how leadership style, rewards and recognition, and the physical work environment influence job satisfaction in a Sri Lankan context—an area that has been widely studied in Western settings but remains underexplored in local manufacturing industries. A quantitative, cross-sectional research design was employed, with data collected through self-administered questionnaires distributed to 108 production employees. The collected data were analyzed using correlation and regression analysis via SPSS. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between organizational climate factors and job satisfaction. Specifically, leadership style accounted for 14.5% of the variance in job satisfaction, rewards and recognition contributed 21.4%, and the physical work environment explained 27.7%. These findings highlight the importance of fostering a supportive organizational climate through effective leadership practices, structured reward systems, and improvements in the physical work environment. This study contributes to the understanding of organizational behavior in Sri Lankan manufacturing firms and offers practical insights for human resource management to enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and overall organizational performance.Item Determinant of Success of Operational Level Employees Empowerment: Evidence from Operational Level Employees in Apparel Manufacturing in Sri Lanka(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Wijethilakaka, P. D. M. C.; Weerasinghe, T. D.The concept and the practice of employee empowerment Human Resource Management is an important concept for the apparel sector as well. Because empowerment leads to both job satisfaction and organization’s goals achievements. Highly satisfied staff is most important in achieving this target. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the factors of success of employee empowerment with special reference two garments factories in Kegalle and Gampaha area. In deciding the sample size of the Supporting employees for this research the researcher used 100 operational level employees for the sample. To test the hypothesis of this study, primary data were used. Primary data were collected through comprehensive Questionnaires given to Machine Operators and Supervisors. The data which collected from the questionnaire, analyzed descriptively using tables, frequencies and percentages. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 23 was used for statistical analysis process. Those data presented by using tables and graphs. According to the participants’ responses and the analysis of this study employee empowerment has a positive and significant impact on organization culture, leadership style, communication style and self-esteem leads towards higher level of employee’s empowerment. Data were gathered using a standard questionnaire from machine operators and simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. According to results of the study, it was found that organizational factors (working environment, leadership style, organizational culture and motivation) positively influence the performance of machine operators of apparel companies in Sri Lanka.Item Impact of Leadership Style on Employees’ Job Satisfaction: A Case of Bank of Ceylon - Head Office(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Wickramasinghe, P.N.N.; Padmasiri, M.K.D.Acquiring and preserving talent is the most vital challenge facing the banking industry. In order to gain the competitive advantage through those employees their performance should be efficient and effective. Accordingly, for that purpose they should be well satisfied. Leadership style is a major determinant of employees’ job satisfaction. Therefore the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship and the impact between leadership styles and job satisfaction among junior executive officers in Bank of Ceylon Head Office, Sri Lanka. A sample of 65 junior executive officers working in Bank of Ceylon Head Office was obtained to participate in this study. The studied leadership styles are transactional and transformational leadership while job satisfaction includes extrinsic and intrinsic job satisfaction. The findings of the study shows that there is a positive and moderate relationship of 40.4% between leadership style and job satisfaction, and transformational leadership and job satisfaction also had a 48.5% of positive and moderate relationship, while transactional leadership and job satisfaction had a strong negative relationship. But the overall impact of leadership and job satisfaction had only 16%, a small impact. And transformational leadership had 24% impact on job satisfaction. Therefore from this study Bank of Ceylon can maximize their profits upon choosing the transformational leadership style as the appropriate leadership style.
