The study aims to investigate how transformational leadership influences employees' attitudes towards change, while considering how innovative work behavior and communication practices further shape their responses. Specifically, the research examines how leadership styles foster employee innovation and enhance communication, which may lead to greater acceptance and adaptation to organizational changes. A thorough literature review provides a conceptual framework linking transformational leadership, innovative work behavior, and effective communication, grounded in theories of leadership and organizational change. The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing surveys to gather data from employees in the IT sector. By analyzing the relationships between leadership, communication, and innovation, this study aims to offer valuable insights for organizational leaders and HR practitioners in managing change effectively. The findings will contribute to the understanding of how leadership and communication strategies can be leveraged to improve employee reactions to change, ultimately fostering a more adaptable and innovative organizational environment.Item Impact of Leadership Styles on Psychological Contracts of Employees in a Large Scale Manufacturing Industry(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2016) Perera, A.N.R.; Dammika, K.A.S.Globalization is highly influence to all over the world. As a result of that competition between the industries are increasing. Leadership needs to accomplish the goals which are matching with the competitive environment and motivating the grass route employees. To achieve the results psychological contract of employee is very important. The main problem is identifying the most suitable leadership style which can influence on psychological contracts of employees. The independent variable was leadership style and dependent was psychological contracts of employees. This was mainly focused about the transformational and transactional leadership styles. And also main psychological contract are relational and transactional. Purpose of this study is to assess the leadership styles of managers, to assess the level of psychological contract of employees, examine the relationship between leadership styles of managers and level of psychological contract of employees, and assess the impact of leadership styles on psychological contract of employees. The target population was operational level employees. The sample size was 100. The primary data gathering was done via two standard questionnaires. Namely, multifactor leadership questionnaire & psychological contract questionnaire. Descriptive analysis and linear multiple regression were used to analyze. This is very important study for the leaders of large scale manufacturing industries to identify the most important leadership styles which match with the employee psychological contract and build the sustainable competitive strategies in their organization to face the drastic changes in business environment.Item The Nexus between Transformational Leadership and Employee Engagement: A Study of Softlogic Brands(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Perera, W.W.M.D.; Wijewantha, P.Employee engagement is a concept that is increasingly gaining attention from researchers, employers, and employees. This study aims to study the impact of leadership styles that engage employees in insecure work situations. Based on the existing literature a hypothesis on the relationship between transformational leadership and employee engagement was developed. Transformational leadership was assumed to have a direct, positive effect on employee engagement. The population of the study is all the employees in the selected organization. Since it is not practically possible to deal with the whole population, a sample of 70 employees was selected using the convenience sampling technique to conduct the survey. Simple linear regression analysis shows that transformational leadership has a significant, positive effect on employee engagement, and hence the hypothesis was supported. The findings suggest that leaders who focus on long-term and higher order intrinsic needs by developing, intellectually stimulating, and inspiring followers, are able to enhance employee engagement. Based on the limitations of this study, suggestions for future research could be offered.Item Impact of Transformational Leadership on Employee Creativity in the Mobile Telecommunication Industry of Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Randeny, R.K.B.P.H.; Wijewantha, P.Today the business context is more competitive than ever before. All the external market factors like, technology, creativity, economic trends and etc., highly influence to the organizational profitability. As every organization is trying to get more benefits than their competitors, they need to concentrate on these factors. There are so many organizations in the same industry who are looking for same group of customers. So they have to differentiate their products and services from others. That is a competitive advantage for firms. The main source of gaining competitive advantage is the human resource or the employees of that company. Because they have uniqueness that anyone cannot imitate easily. Hence, it is an advantage to gain competitive advantage through the employees of the organization. When considering about the service industry, the uniqueness of the service is only depends on the employee who serve the service. So, if employees in an organization can provide an innovative and unique service to their customers, they can easily win the market. To achieve that particular competitive advantage the employee creativity is essential within the workplace. Currently, the problem is the employees are not that much of creative. So this research is conduct on to find out whether the transformational leadership makes an impact on employee creativity in the mobile telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka, which is highly competitive industry in Sri Lanka. Researcher tested a one hypothesis to see the relationship. So as to the research findings, it has found that there is a significant impact of transformational leadership on employee creativity in the mobile telecommunication industry in the Sri Lanka.Item Impact of Leadership Style on Employees’ Job Satisfaction: A Case of Bank of Ceylon - Head Office(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Wickramasinghe, P.N.N.; Padmasiri, M.K.D.Acquiring and preserving talent is the most vital challenge facing the banking industry. In order to gain the competitive advantage through those employees their performance should be efficient and effective. Accordingly, for that purpose they should be well satisfied. Leadership style is a major determinant of employees’ job satisfaction. Therefore the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship and the impact between leadership styles and job satisfaction among junior executive officers in Bank of Ceylon Head Office, Sri Lanka. A sample of 65 junior executive officers working in Bank of Ceylon Head Office was obtained to participate in this study. The studied leadership styles are transactional and transformational leadership while job satisfaction includes extrinsic and intrinsic job satisfaction. The findings of the study shows that there is a positive and moderate relationship of 40.4% between leadership style and job satisfaction, and transformational leadership and job satisfaction also had a 48.5% of positive and moderate relationship, while transactional leadership and job satisfaction had a strong negative relationship. But the overall impact of leadership and job satisfaction had only 16%, a small impact. And transformational leadership had 24% impact on job satisfaction. Therefore from this study Bank of Ceylon can maximize their profits upon choosing the transformational leadership style as the appropriate leadership style.
