M. D. S.; Silva, H. M. S. V.This research paper examined the impact of consumer perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness on consumer adoption towards Self-service kiosks (SSK). Moreover, moderating impact of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on attitude of banking customers was also tested in this study. A conceptual model of adoption process for SSK is developed and tested among Sri Lankan public banking consumers in western province. Based on Technology Acceptance Module, A linear structural relations methodological approach is used to develop conceptual framework. The current study found that both perceived ease of use and usefulness have direct impact on adoption of SSK. Further, consumer attitude acts as a partial mediator between the relationship of consumer perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and SSK adoption. This study has emphasized that system designers and bank managers need to consider system ease of use, perceived usefulness and consumer attitude towards technology when designing and implementing self-service kiosks system in Sri Lanka. Since all variables have moderate impact on consumer adoption it is important to consider other antecedents when designing a self-service kiosk.Item The Impact of Employer Branding on Organizational Commitment: With Reference to Star Garments (PVT) Ltd in Katunayake(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Kuruppu, W. K. A. S. S.; Janadari, M. P. N.In recent years employer branding has gained more attention among business personnel. The apparel industry in Sri Lanka has played major role into the competitive environment though representing the highest proportion in to the service sectors’ organization. Employer branding was played the legitimate value into that competitiveness of the trend of the modern world. The researcher has considered as the main purpose of this study was to examine the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment. By considering the dimensions of economic value, social value, and development value that cogitate the impact on organizational commitment. The final sample of the study consisted of 107 staff and executive level employees who are currently working in the Star Garments (PVT) Ltd, Katunayake. A standardized and pre-validated questionnaire was distributed among the study sample in order to collect data. The study conducted the simple regression and t-test analysis to assess the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment as well as the impact of economic value, social value and development value with considering organizational commitment. Further, the researcher was examined, with the demographic factor, that the result of gender of the respondents’ was controlled to assess the impact of the gender on the association of employer branding on organizational commitment. Findings revealed that there is a positive and moderate impact of employer branding on organizational commitment. As well as the economic value, social value and the development value were positive and moderate impact of employer branding on organizational commitment in respectively. Further, the study results revealed that gender does not significantly control the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment.Item The Impact of Perceived Organizational Support on Employee Engagement of Sewing Machine Operators of Polytex Garments (Pvt) Ltd at Ja- Ela in Sri Lanka(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) De Alwis, R. N.; Devadas, U.M.The purpose of this study was to test identify the impact of perceived organizational support on employee engagement of sewing machine operators in apparel industry with special reference Polytex garments (Pvt) Ltd. In deciding the sample size of this research the researcher used 70 operational level employees for the sample. Primary data were used to test the hypothesis of this study. Primary data were collected through standard questionnaire given to sewing machine operators. The data which collected from the questionnaire, analyzed descriptively using tables, frequencies and percentages. Simple linear regression analysis was used for data analysis. Results indicate that there is a positive impact of perceived organizational support on employee engagement. An engaged employee cares about their work and about the performance of the company and they want to feel that their efforts could make a difference. The rubber industry consists of different type of operating departments such as Production, Engineering, Mold Maintenance, Stores etc. This study focuses on employees in whole department who are selected randomly. The purpose of this study is to identify factors affecting employee motivation in motivating operational employees in Ekala Tire Division at Camso Loadstar. It also focuses on understanding the level of motivation of the employees in Ekala Tire Division at Camso Loadstar. After creating thorough research and literature reviews, a questionnaire was designed. The sample for this study was selected using the convenience sampling technique. It consist 100 operational employees taken from all the departments in the Ekala Tire Division at Camso Loadstar. To collect the information a questionnaire was distributed among the members in sample. The questionnaire was consisted of two parts; one part includes with basic demographic information of the respondents and second with a set of items prepared with the Likert scale was given to confirm these motivational preferences. P.; Padmasiri, M. K. D.This study focuses on the factors causing to less motivation behavior of operational level employees in the apparel industry in Embilipitiya, Sri Lanka. Data were collected from 100 lower level employees of garment factory by using structured questionnaires. The applied sampling technique was simple random sampling method. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA test, and Pearson correlation and regression analysis. Findings revealed that salary, working conditions, supervision and organization policies caused to employees motivation. E. P.; Karunarathne, R. A. I. C.Undergraduates of generation Y have unique characteristics in terms of their expectations and views when selecting organizations to work in. The main objective of this study was to identify the extent to which non –financial rewards attracts the generation Y undergraduates towards business organizations. A quantitative research approach was followed, and data were collected using a questionnaire which contains 2 parts, i.e. part 1 measured non – financial rewarding system and part 2 measured attraction towards organizations. The data were collected from 80 management undergraduates who are currently studying in 3 main Universities in Sri Lanka for management studies. Simple linear regression was used to test the hypotheses and the coefficient of determination to assess the marginal contribution of variables in the research model. The findings of this study showed that non-financial reward have statistically significant effect on undergraduates’ attractiveness of a job offering. It is recommended based on the research that following non – financial rewards are appealing to university undergraduates irrespective of the gender. Opportunities provided, extent to an individual thinks his/her work is valued, having a manageable workload and a reasonable work place, having supportive colleagues and flexible working arrangements. N.Nowadays employees are not only concern about the pay which they receive for their work, but also about how organization values their contribution and care about their well-being. Thus, employees expect from employers, to accommodate them with long-term, perceived organizational support at work. Therefore, employers focused on maintaining a sustainable workforce by promoting perceived organizational support which ultimately leads to build high levels of organizational citizenship behavior. The main purpose of this study is to identify the impact of perceived organizational support on organizational citizenship behavior by considering the mediating effect of employee engagement in staff and officer grade employees at People’s Bank in Colombo Region. Data were collected from 140 staff and officer grade employees through a survey questionnaire. The study sample was selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data analysis was performed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that there is a positive moderate relationship between perceived organizational support and organizational citizenship behavior with the mediation effect of employee engagement. N.Entrepreneurship play major role of long-term economic growth of a Nation and it is leading factor in achieving economic growth, high employment, strong Job creation and positive social development. Small and Medium Enterprises are the basic foundation for entrepreneurs to set up their ventures for many reasons. But, the recent statistics showed that the failure rate of SMEs is very high. As a result, a less number of successful entrepreneurs can be seen. Therefore, in the present days government wants to promote entrepreneurship among individuals. The main objective of this study is to identify entrepreneurial intention of university undergraduates of Sri Lanka. The study involves three factors that come under the Theory of Planned Behavior. Those are attitude towards behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, which affect the entrepreneurial intention of individuals. A total of 217 students from the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya were participated in this study by responding to a standard questionnaire. The data was analyzed using SPSS, employing the correlation, regression and ANOVA tests. The results of Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression analysis showed that attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control have a positive relationship with entrepreneurial intention. And also according to regression analysis the attitudes towards behavior and perceived behavioral control have a 72.0% of impact to the entrepreneur intention. Such a study may provide useful insights into the state of entrepreneurship education for policy makers and planners in universities as well as in government, regarding the younger generation, particularly, to mitigate the burden of graduate unemploymentItem The Impact of Knowledge Sharing on Individual Work Performance: A Study among Baby-Boomers and Generation Y Managerial Level Employees in ABC (Pvt) Limited(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Perera, G. V.The purpose of this study is to find the impact of knowledge sharing on individual work performance and find the difference in the impact of knowledge sharing impact on individual work performance between generation y and baby boomers. The survey data were collected from 97 executive and above employees in ABC (Pvt.) Ltd. Company, in printing media sector, Sri Lanka. Standard questionnaires were used to collect data from the sample and correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to assess the research model. The results of the study indicate that the knowledge sharing has a significant positive impact on individual work performance. Further, Employees in baby boomer generation have a greater impact of knowledge sharing on individual work performance than Generation Y employees. This study is carried out as a quantitative explanatory research work. Furthermore, questionnaire method is applied to data collection. And also, the sample is selected randomly and used simple random sampling technique. Questionnaires were distributed to sample of 57 of employees. To analyze received questionnaires data, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) was used. In order to analyze data descriptive statistical techniques, correlation and coefficient and simple regression analysis were used. The statistical results revealed that there is a significant strong negative relationship between work family conflict and OCB. N.After emergence of the smart phone technology, social media usage has been raised rapidly with the development of social network sites and new technologies around the world. On the other hand, by keeping a border between work life and personal life, people who are employed, are trying to enhance better work life balance which does not consist with much conflicts. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of social media usage in professional life on work life balance. Researcher use primary data to analyze the relationship. The study was a cross sectional study and analysis was done at individual level. Correlation analysis and simple regression were analyzed in this study to identify the relationship and impact between independent variable and dependent variable. A survey was conducted for 58 employees at staff level and above members at Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Ltd Company. Results of the study has identified that, there is a moderate positive relationship between social media use in professional life and work life balance. Moreover, results indicate that there is an impact of social media use in professional life on work life balance. I. A.; Silva, H. M. S. V.The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue in Sri Lanka. This is a quantitative study conducted using deductive approach and secondary data sources. This study was carried out by using secondary data sources of Annual Reports of Central Bank and Performance Report of the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue of Sri Lanka. Data for the time series from 2006 to 2016 was used to carry out this study. Further, interview method was used in order to identify reasons and possible factors which affect the impact of variables. Data analysis was done by using both descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The relationship between two variables were identified by using Pearson Correlation and concluded that there is a positive moderate correlation between variables. The first hypothesis was tested using linear regression analysis and it was concluded that there is no significant impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue within that period from 2006 to 2016. There are very limited number of studies done in Sri Lanka in the field of taxation and difficult to reach some data with the policies and procedure of the government of the country. Since, there were no any studies done for the period from 2006 to 2016 to assess the impact of tax policy changes on tax revenue, thus study fulfills the requirement accordingly. D.This study examined the impact of supervisor emotional intelligence on their subordinates’ job performance in lower level employees in one of leading garment manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka. 125 operational level employees who attached to various functional units were selected as the sample using simple random sampling technique. This study is deductive and quantitative. Data were collected through a questionnaire. Results revealed that supervisors’ emotional intelligence components (i.e., self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, social awareness and social skills) have no impact associated with the subordinate job performance in this context. N. T.; Peiris, M. D. P.The relationship between performance appraisal qualities and employee motivation has been well documented. With the insight of the theories such as equity theory, expectancy theory and goal-setting theory the current study aims to investigate the impact of the performance appraisal qualities on employee motivation at Polytex Garments Ltd, Ja-Ela. The study used an explanatory research design in the form of a survey. The population of the study is 171 managerial employees of Polytex Garments Ltd. However, only 120 respondents were selected by using stratified random sampling from the target population and in each stratum. The quantitative data was analyzed by descriptive statistics using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). A simple linear regression model was used to determine the coefficients of the impact of the performance appraisal qualities on employee motivation. The findings show that a moderate positive significant correlation exits between performance appraisal qualities and employee motivation. It can be concluded that performance appraisal qualities have a significant impact on the employee motivation at Polytex Garments Ltd, Ja-Ela. The research is focused only a one single organization in the apparel industry due to time limitations. However, in a similar vein, the study can be extended to cover more organizations in same industry, well as in different industries in order for generalization of the findings. Further, the study can be extended for finding other factors affecting to the employee motivation than the qualities of performance appraisal. As recommends, it can be concluded that effective feedback and communication, giving training opportunities for employees to acquire skills and encouraging employees’ participation in performance appraisal processes are all essential for effective performance appraisal process in an organizationItem The Impact of Workplace Characteristics on Work-Family Conflict of Females in Status-Reversal Families(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Hansika, A. S.; De Alwis, A. C.This study investigates whether the work place related factors has the ability to affect to reduce Work-Family Conflict (WFC) of females in status-reversal families. Objective of the study determines whether workplace characteristics (supervisory support, co-worker support, schedule control, reward and financial benefit, job autonomy) significantly reduce work-family conflict of females who belong to status-reversal families. Data were collected through standard questionnaire for this quantitative study. 72 females in status-reversal families were selected for the sample under the convenience sampling method from dual-income families in Sri Lanka. Data were analyzed through multiple linear regression and coefficient correlation. Previous literature findings indicate that five independent variables of supervisory support, co-worker support, schedule control, reward and financial benefit, job autonomy has a negative influence or reduce WFC according to their respective samples. With the purpose of confirming the accepting or rejecting the previous findings, current study conducted the research analysis in Sri Lankan context. However in this context those five work place factors has rejected and simply it means there is a negative relationship with WFC of females in status reversal families in Sri Lankan context.Item The Effect of Facebook Usage Intensity and the Personality Type of Individuals on Academic Performance: A Study among Final Year Undergraduates of Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Sandamali, K. A.During last couple of years, it had been quite evident that the academic performance of undergraduates are inconsistent over time and gender bias in the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies of University of Kelaniya. With the wide usage of internet and related services across the globe, the life style of people started to change. The global internet users have been passed 4 billion and among those 3 billion people around use social media in each month by using the mobile devices. The social media made major effect to the society and effect to the students’ academic performance in all the countries across the world. The purpose of this study is to examine whether Facebook usage intensity and the personality type impact on the university undergraduates’ academic performance. The primary data were collected from a sample of 142 university final year undergraduates via a validated standard survey instrument. The statistical data analysis techniques used for impact testing were chi-square and Nagelkarke R- square of logistic regression. The study brings up results showing that there is a significant impact on Facebook usage intensity and undergraduates’ academic performance relationship. S. S.; Karunarathne, R. A. I. C.Empowering employees and building trust in close relationships become more vigorous consideration in organizations for surviving and competing in the business context. Hence, the purpose of this study was to assess the impact of subordinate’s trust in supervisor and felt trust on subordinate overall psychological empowerment. To attain this research objective, we collected data from 56 staff employees and 38 executives who are working as subordinates in a reputed garment manufacturing company in Ja-Ela, Sri Lanka. We used survey method for data collection and used simple linear regression analysis for data analysis. The results of this study showed that the subordinate’s trust in supervisor significantly and positively influence on subordinate overall psychological empowerment. Further, the results showed that subordinate’s felt trust has significant positive effect on subordinate overall psychological empowerment. Based on these findings, we recommend to the management to ensure healthy relationships among supervisors and subordinates through effective communication and leadership practices in order to create a sense of empowerment within employees. This study was quantitative and cross sectional. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire from all executive level employees attached to Hirdaramani Industries (pvt) Ltd, Kuruwita. Correlation and Regression analysis were used as analytical tools. Findings revealed that Information Quality, System Quality and Service Quality have positive impact on End-User Satisfaction of Information System. R.Procrastination at work and employee work performance are decisive elements of any organization even though there is a limited research attention given on procrastination and its outcomes of managerial employees. This study examines the impact of procrastination at work and employee work performance with special reference to managerial employees. The quantitative study design was used and data were collected through an online survey. The final sample was 102 managerial employees of MAS Holdings (Pvt) Limited, Sri Lanka. The hypothesized model was tested using simple linear regression analysis. Results showed a negative relationship between procrastination at work on employee work performance of managerial employees, and thus to improve performance managers ought not to delay work. Further, where no research on procrastination has been conducted in the Sri Lankan context, this research supplements the literature on work procrastination by particularly studying a managerial employee sample and indicating the requirement of studying its implications on other professions
