    Chinese Buddhist Scriptures

    The teachings of the Buddha are recorded in various collections of scriptures known as canons. The Pali Canon was committed to writing in Sri Lanka in the first century B.C. and consists of three divisions known as baskets (Pitaka). They are Sutra Pitaka, Vinaya Pitaka and Abhidharma Pitaka. 1 China has completed cataloguing of ancient Buddhist scriptures with a history of more than two thousand years. This is the result of years of efforts to collect and make photocopy the precious pages in Southwest China’s Tibetan autonomous region originated from India; the scriptures were introduced to Southwestern China’s Yunnan province and Tibet Autonomous region during religious exchanges. It formed the foundation of Buddhism and is hoped to add more pages to China’s rich civilization

    The use of L1 strategies to encourage speech in L2 classes

    Special Degree in Library Science is a programme of study offered by the University of Kelaniya and proficiency in English language is a pre-requisite needed to register for it. Although students' language ability related to writing and reading in English which they had acquired in school help them manage their academic work during undergraduate period, they meet their Waterloo on leaving campus; at the job market. Very often other candidates having relatively less academic achievement with regard to Library Science but are more fluent than them in English speech grab the job opportunities for which they are most suited. This disaster is not specific to library science graduates only but common to counterpart too in other faculties. The cause responsible for this is the uncalled for importance both public and private sectors in Sri Lanka attach to English language.

    Evolution of Hindi Drama

    Hindi drama plays a major role in the literary horizon of Hindi Literature. Though the beginning of Hindi drama is not clear it is believed that Vedas, folk dramas of India; Nautanki, Nattukkuttu, Tamasha, Raslila, Ramlila, Swang and Jataka stories also had an impact on the origin these dramas. Gradually Hindi dramas were influenced by both Sanskrit and Western dramatic styles
